Stars and stripes haha.

On a serious note another arevage, unimaginative nike kit. This doesn\'t look a great year from Premier League shirts.

Red, white and blue shirts have been worn by United since 1902, you fool. It was only when the Premier league started that we wore any other colours (with the exception of a few months in 1933). They are also the colours of the Union flag and of a few other countries besides than the USA.

As for being unimaginative, what else could they have done? It\'s based on the plain blue European Cup final shirt from 1968, why ruin it with anything complicated? It could have been even plainer without the pointless MUFC on the neck, really.

I think Manchester city centre is the only place in the UK that I see LESS red shirts than blue!

It is similar to the gk shirt, but it is not the same. Can\'t ask for much more in a kit. Sure it is simple, but as it is a tribute shirt, simple works best. Look at the original. I do wish they would have incorporated the \'68 crest on the outside of the kit though.

It\'s a great shirt... BUT

Apart from the home socks (which mysteriously change to white occasionally)

There is now NO black in any of the 3 United kits this season which is just wrong.

The white away kit should have had BLACK trim and shorts instead of blue.
Reply | Reply with quote | Quote

0 # Rafa The Waiter 2008-07-04 20:01
United wear white socks for European games.
Reply | Reply with quote | Quote

0 # Tim 2008-07-04 22:24
Other than the home socks, black wasn\'t used in our kit\'s till 1977. It\'s not as much of a traditional United colour as blue. For much of our history, we didn\'t even wear black socks either TBH.

Having said that, the away shirt would have looked better with black bits instead of blue bits, it\'s ugly.
Reply | Reply with quote | Quote

0 # Rafa The Waiter 2008-07-04 23:00
I agree. The white away kit is horrible. It\'s just a snide attempt to represent the colours of the US and those Glazer c**ts.
Reply | Reply with quote | Quote

0 # Tim 2008-07-04 23:29
How can you agree if you\'ve not understood the point I was trying to make? I\'m anti-Glazer myself, but I think this conspiracy theory about USA colours is absolute [censored]. Red white and blue (as well as blck) have been traditional United colours since we changed our name from Newton Heath. were the Glazers around then?
Reply | Reply with quote | Quote

0 # Rafa The Waiter 2008-07-05 02:30
When I said I agree, I meant it for what you said about the blue trim being changed to black.

Secondly, if you think that the white shirt wasn\'t designed to tie in with the US then you should take a look at the shop section where the shirt is placed onto a background of the US flag. Clearly the shirt is designed to mass market the United brand in the US.
Reply | Reply with quote | Quote

0 # Tim 2008-07-05 08:38
What \"shop section\"? It\'s not on the megastore website.

If we were trying so hard to market ourselves to th Americans, wouldn\'t we be over ther pre-season instead of going to Asia and South Africa all the time?
Reply | Reply with quote | Quote

0 # 2008-08-27 18:20
the white kit was placed infront of the us flag on a link to the us store. because united have realized their market in the us, and realized that americans dont want to have to pay the overseas shipping, they have created a us store.

Really love this shirt, really simple and a great way to mark the 40th anniversary of our 1968 european triumph.

P.S. any chelsea scum who says we are copying them with their colour, success etc.....wtf r u on about.

1. We have had many blue away shirts, it is part of our history.

2. What success? do you mean your (only) premier league winning \"success\" in 2005 & 2006 or the runner up in the Champions League final 2008?

Chelsea hardly go down in history, you would still be a mid-table team if it wasnt for abramovich\'s piggy bank!!

I think the shirt is class, I dont usually like Blue, but it is a darker blue than all other ones out there.

The design is supposed to be basic to copy the 1968 shirt as closely as possible.

I would have liked to see 3 stars on the shirt, I am hoping they have some shirt printing/stars on the champions league shirts for next year as we bloody deserve to show off our newly acquired european crown.

Nah They\'re doing it this year because of the success we had in Europe last year. If we had not of won the champions league last year, i don\'t think we would have had this shirt

but because we did We do have this shirt . And i like it! I think the design round the crest is brilliant, and the Manchester coat of arms on the inside collar is a great idea, it shows that even though the club has a worldwide fan-base, it will always remain a \'mancunian\', Just Like Myself

First off, whoever said no black was used in the kit prior to 77 is flat out wrong, 1922-1928 we had black shorts black trim.....and as Newtown Heath black was a staple in the shorts from the late 1870\'s until 1902....

The shirt is flat out amazing and i can\'t wait to order mine, whats everyone getting for printing?, i\'m thinking GIGGS for me, i dunno, maybe berbatov for the new white kit.

perhaps we should have Umbro to design our kit again...during Umbro era all United kits were flashy & nicely decorated. Being Nike it\'s simpleeeeeeee all the way.
Disgruntled with the 3rd kit.

ManUtd are better then Chelsea by far, just look at how many trophies we have an the success we have against them. Also look at Lpool not won Prem League in sooo long.
A football kit is just a kit so stop crying like babys lol

i love this kit, wunt have 3 stars
the scousers are the ones that use stars, why look as sad as them, we know what we have won and that shows with the date around the crest

love it, geting this one ASAP!
new home shirt should be good, hope they dont change it too much though i like our current one alot

anything with the united crest will do for me
