Friday, 04 July 2008
Footy Boots the football boot website will be launching the Footy-Boots.com Football Boots Awards 2008 on the 21st July.
New for this year is a category on the best shirt of 2007/8 and they've asked us here at FootballShirtCulture, knowing that we are 'the football shirt people', to come up with the best 10 shirts.
So help us select the 10 best football shirts by picking your favourite below.
Agreed, Man City and Portsmouth had the best year. This poll will be skewed by fans voting for their own team's shirts. Nothing sinister about it, just that fans have a natural affinity with their own team's strip.
this is a joke.there is obviously a greater percentage of united supporters and they wil ALL vote for the united kit . its too basic.compared to the man city home top and i know because i support neither of the teams.
i decided in an unbiased way not to vote for the spurs top, but i agree with most nuetrals man city or pompey deserve it me thinks, but being a southerner got to go for portsmouth, though, sorry city.
Man utd shirt is boring and plain. Portsmouth's shirt is far much more better looking shirt than man utd. I guess the large majority of people voting this poll, is a man utd fan. Typical.
What's wrong with a simple shirt...? I'd rather my team have something simple rather than a mental kit with zig-zags or something gimmicky... I prefer something simple that goes with tradition. I like the Brum shirt because it goes back to their 70's 'penguin' shirt. I know that was gimmicky and breaking from tradition back then but you can't deny it was a classic.
The United shirt was ok but not a patch on the previous seasons shirt with the white V-neck that looked like the 50's shirts. Plus the red was too light compared again with the previous seasons kit. It's a pity they didn't have the Munich anniversary kit on their or I'd have voted for that.
The Spurs kit was very traditional, clean without any mad stuff on it.
Derby and Fulham's shirts were off the peg stock shirts so they don't count.
Everton have the best sponsor on their shirts but they let themselves down by changing their kit every season as do Boro.
Arsenal went back to tradition but it looks like they've blew it this season.
Pompey's shirt was ok but it does look a little busy.
Both Sunderland and Wigan's kits were great although they were both template shirts.
Villa's was a tidy shirt and the new badge looked clean but I'm going for Birmingham City's as the best.
If you are judging the best strips and this isn't a popularity test then Portsmouth wins hands down, with his innovative and attractive design, it shows a company really trying to thrive for excellence, whereas the Manchester United shirt is just bland and dull.
There is no bias in this for i am a Rangers fan, but i feel that Pompey have the best strip in the country.
I hope people can vote for their favourite strips, more so than their favourite team.
My view may be a little biased (city fan) but i reckon city's kit was the best this year, it is something different with LCS rather than the same nike template being used for half of the premier league. Utd's home top aint so special but their black kit is pretty tasty. Pompey's is ok (blue top, white shorts, red socks arrgh!) but City has to be top
out of all the EPL shirts the traditional shirts still shine through ie the Arsenal and Aston villa shirts.
The Chelsea shirt is also worth a mention but is let down by the sponsor being to big
Why not vote for 10 and at least this will give a good indication of what people think are the 9 best shirts after their own team (not including their rivals)
Great City Shirt last season, not so pleased with next seasons. I was disappointed when I found out we were getting LCS, but so far I think we could have done a lot worse..??
I DONT SEE WHY THE MAN U FANS FEEL THE NEED TO GET OFFENSIVE JUST BECAUSE MAN CITY HAVE A NICER SHIRT.
AS A NEWCASTLE FAN I THINK THE BOLTON SHIRT IS THE NICEST FOLLOWED BY MAN C.
I DO NOT LIKE THE MAN U SHIRT, AND PUTTING PERSONAL FEELINGS ABOUT CLUBS ASIDE I THINK THE MAJORITY OF GROWN UPS WOULD AGREE THAT MAN C HAD A GREAT SHIRT, THEIR BEST SHIRT FOR YEARS.
I'm a ManU fan but I hate the current shirt - especially the stripe thing down the back.
The Pompey shirt is definately the best, it looks smart and apparently is made of special fabric that improves performance, so scientifically it really IS the best.. might explain why they won (and knocked us out of) the FA Cup!
