Hull City 08/09 Umbro Home kit launch video

E-mail

Staff at the KC Stadium were rushed off their feet by fans eager to be among the first to show off the new Hull City 08/09 kit made by umbro.

Lifelong City fan and merchandise collector Tony Sturdy, 54, told the Mail he felt the striped shirt was best suited for a team nicknamed the Tigers. Mr Sturdy, who displays many of his 120 Tigers shirts at Beverley Pine on the town's Tokenspire Business Park, said: "I like tradition and I feel we should play in black and amber stripes.

"We're nicknamed the Tigers because originally we had stripes, so I think we should play in them all the time." In a move that has pleased fans, designers of the strip went for a return to traditional black and amber thick vertical stripes.

Mr Floyd, 48, added: "The strip is traditional and goes back to the club's roots. I think they will sell plenty of them." He was optimistic about City's chances in the league, which will see Phil Brown's men take on the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea. "Provided we get the players we are looking at we could end even up in the top half of the table,” he said.

The shirts cost GBP 39.99 for adults and GBP 29,99 for children. As well as the KC Stadium shop, shirts can be bought from Princes Quay or online. City's first match is against Fulham at the KC Stadium on Saturday, August 16.

I\'m glad they\'re back to the stripes. I don\'t like the kind of kit they had last season, and you gotta come into the Premiership proudly representing tradition. If only Stoke could take a hint from Hull.

I think Hull have a decent chance of staying up this season. A time I really like.

Great colours but I think the lack of stripes last season looked really good....

They looked like they meant business.....like when WBA wore the stripeless kits.....

Which made me think:
(I\'m sure someone will solidify or rubbish this, but)......

I cant actually recall any team in England (who traditionally wear stripes) WINNING anything of merit....(?)

Yet another example of pre-93 football fans that know nothing about the game - try asking Sheff Wed, Southampton and even Huddesfield fans about that,

Do they expect people to buy that what a nasty shirt they won\'t be able to sign no one with that.

Hull will be worse than Derby!

I guess the 11 Points Record low will be broken!

Nice kit though.
