The Colorado Rapids unveiled the club's new third kit for the 08/09 season at a private event in conjunction with the adidas ESP Tournament that is currently taking place at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.

The Rapids' third kit features a white jersey, burgundy shorts, and white socks. The Rapids will wear this third kit in all international matches and competitions moving forward. The new third kit incorporates elements of the Rapids' existing DNA, such as the burgundy on the shorts and jersey lettering, as well as the newly-introduced hint of Arsenal Red in the new design.

The Colorado Rapids will debut their new third uniform in match action for the first time at their home international match this Wednesday, July 9, when they take on Mexico's Tigres at 8:00pm at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.

Since the Rapids players will be wearing the third kit for the first time this Wednesday, models from the Donna Baldwin Agency were on hand to present the new third kit to the guests and media members in attendance at the exclusive event, which was held at the Cantina at Dick's Sporting Goods Park and was invitation-only.

The Rapids' third jerseys are now available for purchase in limited inventory. The authentic third jerseys retail for $90 and are available exclusively for purchase through the Rapids' official team store, Altitude Authentics, both at the Team Store at Dick's Sporting Goods Park starting Tuesday, July 8 at 10:00am MT. Only authentic Rapids third kit game jerseys are available for purchase; replica jerseys will not be made available to the public.

They will when they sell enough shirts to warrent it i would imagine.
If there is a market(David Beckham in LA) Ronaldino moving say to New York then the kit would reflect an upsurge in demand.
Fact is Colarado Rapids may be a good side in the US but do they have an international following?
Bottem lline is it is all about the money coming in-or lack of it as may be the case.

OK, first things first. Did one of the models forget to pack her football socks and trainers?!?!

Second, does anyone else notice a corelation between the boringness of the kit and/or the lack of fame of a club and their use of beautiful models for their kit launch (exception being Burton who are just cheapskates or plain scary! )

These shirts aren't bad, cannot see why Colorado need a third strip, maybe cause they don't have the sponsorship of LA Galaxy, Red Bull NY etc. Either way it's not bad.

Why hasn't adidas thought of a compromise, same coloured 3 stripes on the sleeves?!?! In this example white stripes on white. They could be embroidered or hot painted on, still gets their trademark and yet keeps a shirt looking clean and gives them some variety between seasons.

adidas make great kits .. period... Compare the fabric and design to any Joma / Jako / Errea / Reebok / Puma / shite kits and theres absolutley no need for negative comment.

Nice colours, nice shirt.

As for the person who's calling for Adidas to retire the three stripes (?)

I think the point is Adidas stripes + the logo can often overpower the shirt and club that the shirt is supposed to represent... not sure if they should dump the three stripes.. but EVERY SINGLE shirt they do has them, and quite frankly, gets fuckin boring... they should try some other stuff too

I gree they should.
They tried it in the 90s'-Liverpool and Rangers having stripes at the bottem of short sleevesfor their away shirts(gold for Liverpool&lilac for Rangers), and the stripes that went across and down in other kits.
Now they just haven't bothered moving the stripes forward at all.
This CR shirt looks like the Spain,Greece template etc and is just dull really.They make up for the lack of sponcership by having a logo instead, like basketball teams.
By the way what are elements of excisting DNA? It makes a footie shirt sound like a cloning experiment.
