Portsmouth 08/09 kit Home Canterbury launched E-mail

Portsmouth launched the new 08/09 blue kit, with gold trim, which will be worn for one season only to mark the club’s 110th anniversary in the club shop.

Blues chief operating officer Bruce Vandenberg said:

“The all-blue strip will commemorate the 110th anniversary of Portsmouth Football Club.

“When the club reached 100 years, difficult financial circumstances meant it was not possible to mark such a historic date significantly.

“But the huge advances the club has made in the last two-and-half years mean we can now do that for our 110th year.

“The all-blue strip already has fantastic connotations. We won our FA Cup semi-final against West Brom – played on the exact 110th anniversary of the club – wearing all blue.

“And then, back at Wembley, we won the FA Cup final against Cardiff wearing all blue.

“The club understands the importance of colours to fans. That’s why we consulted with supporter groups before the decision to wear all blue for one season was made.

“For the 2009/10 season, we will go back to our traditional home colours of blue shirts, white shorts and red socks.”

The new all-blue strip is now available in the FSC shop

The golds don't match between the shirt and the name/number. That will really bother me...
SeanP   |2008-07-15
It's photoshopped - That's why!

Canterbury have let themselves down this year. So much promise as a new supplier & then we get this??
DKool   |2008-07-15
what r u talking about? This kit is 100% original, unique and specially designed for Portsmouth. Its absolute class
Rambler   |2008-07-15
Let's be honest Crouch and Redknapp would look ugly in anything let alone a kit made by a rugby and cricket firm

fuckin nice !
tyrone   |2008-07-15
looks great, not like the same old same old from nike, addidas, puma etc. Really nice and unique. Spurs need a kit supplier like this.

WOW!!! Best Kit In The EPL

avatar Looks quite good actualy...

Most original and attractive kit I've seen in any league this season. Canterburry are taking Nike, Adidas, Puma and Umbro back to school!

blame the premier league for the mismatch on the shirt and the name and number. The number/font colours are standardized by the league, not by the club.

this smaller designers need to stop with with the big logos on the sleeves and the back stripe is similar to manu, otherwise a great kit
spaz   |2008-07-15
not a bad kit, the only thing that bothers me is the darn gold line at the back...looks like a freakin brick.
londonpompey   |2008-07-15
great kit the new crest looks great too and from what ive seen its a big improvement on the old school crest style with pirate script type. Its obvious portsmouth are going in the right direction on and off the pitch. I found out it was done by the company below:

I must admit I like the look of this shirt, the away one is a different kettle of fish all together.

Canterbury have surprised me by making great looking kits for football clubs. This kit looks awesome and imo, this is the best in the epl.

avatar Really nice kit!! One of the best kits in the EPL this year so far!!!
Tom   |2008-07-15
some changes from the leaked photos really improve the design. I've got mine ordered already haha! They should loose the big stripe and bring back the white shorts/red socks. But I still really like it. FAR better than the away.
johnnycakes   |2008-07-15
avatar thank god its blue, white, red next year. This is italy 2008.
wongwong.com  - not bad     |2008-07-15
not terrible, pretty nice but what's the big deal about 110 years? in any case, it's not a bad looking kit - last season's home and away were much nicer IMO.
gleefuljason   |2008-07-15
The big deal with 110 years is that the club couldn't afford to do anything special to celebrate its centenary year back in 1998. Those were the days before Milan Mandaric came and saved the club from financial ruin.

If they really want to embrace history this season, I think they should really go back to their roots by bringing out a salmon pink third kit!

Nice and balanced. I like the cool modern design and the way they integrated the new logo very well.

crap egg chasers kit 110 years whoppee doo
mikie   |2008-07-15
AWESOME!!
Balls   |2008-07-16
110 years...??? big deal

I don't like the whole one colour kit thing... scotland's the same, it looks crap.

Pompey had great kits in the 80's, the badge was better than too... this one looks naff.

This is bland and no need for all the gold... the stripe on the bottom of the back is unnecessary

CROUCHY IS EATING NACHOS!
Anonymous   |2008-07-16
Looks like a Wimbledon kit.

Where are the traditional white shorts and red socks which make Pompey stand out from the rest of the blue top brigade?
Anonymous   |2008-07-16
Unbelievably fickle!!!

Read comments posted 29th May on unofficial release of the kit. You all hate it!

What's it all about??????
Mikie   |2008-07-16
I think because it looks better when worn.
PirateJim   |2008-07-16
Yuk . . . the gold bits look cheap . . . Canterbury should stick to that crappy egg-chasing nonsense they're so fond of.
Valeron   |2008-07-17
am lookin forward to seeing Deportivo´s kit season 2008-2009.
Nick   |2008-07-17
I like the navy/blue gold combination it does look good. And yes the adjustment made from the leaked photos do look batter and the stripe on the back at the bottem will look good because assuming polayers tuck the shirts in there will only be a glimmer of the stripe anyway so it will not look like a brick just a thick line. The only annoying detail i do not like is the 3 red cirles/dots on the shorts.
Tom   |2008-08-04
love it. Much improved from the leaked shots but could still do with less CCC logos.
