We already showed you a leaked picture a while ago, but today Celtic officially unveiled their new home kit. The new Hoops will go on sale officially from Thursday, August 21, 2008, but supporters can pre-order the kit today.
The kit uses Nike Sphere Dry fabric technology, first used by Nike in national team kits worn in the 2006 World Cup. This technology is designed to enhance player performance by wicking sweat through the material and away from the skin.
The fabric has a three-dimensional design with raised nodes on the underside that lift it away from the players’ bodies to reduce ‘cling’ and allow air to circulate, assisting the body’s own natural evaporation process.
On the inside collar of the shirt, similar to the new gold away kit, are the words: “It’s not the creed nor nationality that counts. It’s the man himself,” a quote from Willie Maley, one of the most iconic figures in the club’s history and words which proudly demonstrate Celtic as a club open to all.
Very bog standard. Companies realise that the gloryhunters that follow Ra Sellick, along with the Huns, Newcastle, Liverpool, Man Utd etc etc will fork out for any old thing as long as its in their club colours, no innovation or even really design required.
lets be honest here, its like that every year there is never new bits of detail or design to it. The only different thing from last years is the v-neck, just another dull kit.
Whereas Rangers new kit, although stil obviously blue, its a different design and better.
1. gold nike swoosh
2. no lisbon round da celtic badge
3. v-neck (green) coller
4. celtic n nike on green hoop(usually da white)
5. gold trim on sleeve
so obviously rovers92...u havent even compared the rwo tops coz i have given u 5 differences
Yet again a leak that found it's way on here turned out to be real. Where are all the numptys that shout "fake" now?
I think this one's OK, the gold does give it a bit of a different look. Hopefully, the European version of this one won't have the hoops completely cut off the back, like last season. That looked weird.
the kit is fantastic and it keeps in tone with tradition so its good, im sick off people saying "it's just the same" because its the hoops and we would loose it if they changed it.
although our kits tend to look the same at least they are individual, I can thank of quite a few shirts using the same as the rangers kit and no doubt there will be more coming before the new season, how many other teams have nike given our kit to???????????
omfg the ugliest thing ive ever seen your a disgrace to scotland, what colours on that strip represent scotland ? for christ sake we have the flag on the neck .!
Maybe it's the American in me, but I believe changing a home kit every single year is retarded. I mean, my favorite U.S. football (gridiron) team, the Oakland Raiders haven't changed their home or away shirts EVER and I still love them because it's their identity.
I have last years Celtic shirt and I wont buy this one because they're too similar, but that's a good thing, I can spend money on a couple other kits this year.
Plus, the Leoes de Lisboa thing last year was hella sick.
Actually that's not strictly true - this is what Oakland were wearing in the 60s - but I do accept your point...I think it's just one of the many differences between the two sporting cultures either side of the Atlantic. Besides, with NFL jerseys, players coming and going do put a limited lifespan of their own on jerseys - I mean, who'd be seen dead walking around San Diego in a #16 LEAF jersey?
Anyways I'm going to shut up now before I get clubbed round the head for talking NFL on here

It's the same template as used for Villa's and Porto's kits this year. I do see your point though, as a Villa fan there's only so much you can do with claret body & blue sleeves.... Green and White hoops is the same IMO. Change and the team loses it's identity
Can anyone help me with this: I'm wondering from what material the carling logo is made of. I had a Celtic shirt from two years back, and it was kind of glued on the shirt, and the logo was kind of thick and not very flexible..I found it pretty uncomfortable. Is this the same type, or is it a flock print this time?
Yup its true there is only so much you can do with green and white hoops. If they try and tinker with the shirt to much the team can lose its identity.
Take the new Arsenal shirt. They tinkered with the red body and white sleeves and ended up making a shirt that many fans aren't happy with, becuase of the lack of all white sleeves
You're right Ryan, I did forget about those gold/white/black jerseys in the 60's.
Anyways, I do like the gold on the jersey it adds some pop being that there is only a little bit of it. I think the gold was borrowed from Celtics UEFA jersey a year or two ago, the white one with the green and gold verticle stripe.
One major reason why I like Celtic is because their home kit is always consistent with the prior years, I feel bad for all those Arsenal fans who gotta deal with their new home kit, it's awful.
Nike could have thrown in a collar on this one instead of the stupid v-neck to give it more of a classic look. I'm also getting tired of Carling being the sponsor. That is also adding to the shirt looking the same every year.
scottish twats shut up celctic are shit dey only win the scottish cup and get knocked out all the time in the uefa cus there just a load of fat scots who need to get a bath
yeh every club hav colours that represent there country.. aberdeen juventus chelsea and real madrid (most successful football club in history) r a disgrace to country doh!!
This shirt will look great in the world's premiere club championship and the away shirt reminds me of the mighty gold and green of Kaunas and a lesser extent Brasil.
