Middlesbrough’s kit manufacturer Errea have revealed that the club’s new 08/09 home and away shirts are resistant to water and other liquids thanks to unique technology that utilises silver and titanium in the shirt fabric.
Errea’s marketing manager Fabrizio Taddei believes supporters will be amazed by the technology too.
“Middlesbrough are the first and only football club in the world to have utilized this unique material in a football shirt,” said Fabrizio.
“The new shirts are not only fully waterproof but are also resistant to other liquids,” he continued.
Errea are at the forefront of incorporating new scientific breakthroughs into the manufacture of sportswear and utilised ‘nanotechnology’ to make the water-resistant nature of Boro’s new shirts possible.
Nanotechnology is an emerging science which involves working with matter on an ultra-small scale, using individual atoms and molecules.
Fabrizio explains: “Whereas other clothing is often made waterproof through a coating process, tiny particles of titanium and silver have been woven into the yarn of Boro’s new shirts to create a unique fabric.
“We are confident that the new technologies utilised in the manufacturing of the shirts will be appreciated by the players and the supporters.”| < Prev | Next > |

I have one in our showroom and I didn\'t believe how good it would be... it\'s called the Errea Huron and its less than 30 quid so can\'t ask for much more!
I think I\'m gonna get one myself now... sold by the tech...
btw silver and titanium are generally hypo allergenic and the shirts are Oeko-Tek Standard 100 certified which means they have no carcinogenic, allergenic, irritant or toxic materials. I believe its the first certified shirt to meet this standard...
and although I haven\'t worn the shirt myself yet I do read it is still breathable - in fact on footballshirtcu lture.com itself:
\"The fabric turns waterproof although it conserves high air and steam permeability characteristics thanks to lower values of the superficial tension. An invisible barrier is formed on each fibre, that doesn
