Derby County 08/09 Away Adidas football Kit revealed E-mail
Friday, 15 August 2008

derby_county_08_09_adidas_kit.jpg

Derby County’s new 08/09 away Adidas kit was revealed to the public for the first time as part of Green Day - at the Carling Cup clash with Lincoln City.

Young professionals Mark Dudley, Paris Simmons, Mitch Hanson and Aleksandar Prijovic paraded the vibrant lime-green outfit at half-time against the Imps and it was well-received by the Pride Park crowd.

Along with the teams home shirt, the away shirt will carry the name of sponsors the Greenbank Group on the back.

The green shirts were being launched as part of a Green Day to promote environmental awareness at the club and involve such innovations as players arriving at the ground in Toyota Hybrid cars, and the evening's edition of The Ram being printed on recycled paper.

Charles Conroy, Managing Director of the Greenbank Group, said: "We are thrilled to be associated with Derby County in raising awareness of environmental issues - this is a key theme of Greenbank's business, both internally and in the expertise and products we promote to our customers.

"2008 has been a trophy year for the group and sponsorship of Derby County allows us to further build upon our success and demonstrate the pride we have in our Derbyshire business and workforce."

With UK headquarters based in Woodville, the Greenbank Group combines years of traditional engineering expertise with pioneering new technology to deliver efficiency improvements at large coal-fired power generating plants.

Mr Conroy added: "We encourage all our staff to look for ways to reduce or recycle waste.

"This includes having segregated waste collection points all around our offices and factory and, where possible, we promote the use of local suppliers to minimise carbon footprint.

"We encourage all football supporters to reflect on this and if we can inspire just a few changes to benefit the environment we will feel vindicated in our effort. "

Tom Glick, President and CEO of Derby County, said: "As this Green Day event at the club highlights, Derby County Football Club is an organisation that recognises the importance of addressing environmental issues that affect us all.

"We are proud to be partners with the Greenbank Group, whose commitment to developing products which contribute to improving the performance of power generation demonstrates the significant contribution being made by local Derbyshire people in tackling such a worldwide concern."

If I worked in Bombardier's marketing department, I'd be livid that nobody could read the sponsor's logo.
Craig Leveins Tangerine Army   |2008-08-15
Exactly right Chip, think someone somewhere's ass is going to be kicked for not making the sponsor black.....
Alan Green   |2008-08-15
Chip, you're an absolute star!
spaz   |2008-08-15
what the hell!!! crappy colors and u can't even see the god damn sponsor name. they should just be relegated for having a lousy kit. next!!!
Red Bull Salzburg   |2008-08-15
For christ sake that is a damn template shirt to start with, i dont think my local footy store stocks those template shirt any more.

And like most have said what is the sponsor doing in white? i think their players name and numbers are better off white too. And you expect Derby to play in that green, i guess a 3rd kit is com'in out, since they are playing in white.

First we had electric Yellow, now lime Green, then what? hot Pink?
Chris   |2008-08-15
Wow, those kits are quite flashy for such a sh*te side.
Jon   |2008-08-15
I agree about the legibility of the Bombardier logo, it doesn't show up well at all. I don't understand why it is in white, when the other logos and the trim are in black. Besides, the kit reminds me of one of the Adidas goalie outfits from last season!

this is accually a great kit ..........NOT!!
whl legend  - shit   |2008-08-15
this kit is bollocks
blatant copy of chelsea away last season
and you cant see the sponsor

i dont like the way that adidas use exactly the same templates for all their kits.
craig   |2008-08-15
it would be better if the Bombardier logo was black
joe   |2008-08-15
i must have seen about 5 chelsea copys this season its just ridiculous.
A.J  - Mr   |2008-08-15
i think the white sponsor works tbh, its looks crap but its a good ploy. Think about it, people look and think, "wheres the sponsor" "what is it" which makes people take note. more people will look for the sponsor and look at it more than they would a black one which would blend in the shirt.
Gervillian Swike   |2008-08-16
Who in the name of Sam Hill would go into a shop, buy that shirt, and wear it in public?
richie   |2008-08-16
Not bad for the 2nd best team in Derbyshire
Hazard   |2008-08-16
I'm sick of the lime green/electric yellow colour. Barcelona's jersey a few seasons ago was brilliant in that colour but thats the only one that I thought was good. And again: no one can see the sponsor in that picture, let alone from the stands or on the tv.
Anonymous   |2008-08-16
very similar to last seasonz chelshit's kit ... u can barely read the sponsor ...
i wud give this kit 2 outta 5
Torino   |2008-08-16
What a piece of twad. At least outline the sponsor with Black if you want the sponsor primarily in white.

Come to think of it Adidas is getting cheap. In Euro 2008, they made Casillas(+Reina) wear the new GK kit (grey one) for the group matches. then when they wear in the KO stages, he had to wear the old GK kit which was the snaky design, which Derby is now using.

At least now fans will look hard for the sponsor then watching the match itself, cuz it will be very depressing watch them.

Craig   |2008-08-24
