The UEFA unveiled the official match ball of the UEFA Under 21 EURO 2009, the adidas TERRAPASS, at the tournament draw in Gothenburg with a futuristic design to celebrate the colours of host nation Sweden.

The bright blue and yellow of the Swedish flag are enhanced by 12 watermarks containing the silhouette of Europe, along with the official event logo. The technology involves adding an extremely fine structure to the ball's outer skin, similar to "goose bumps", to improve the grip between ball and boot.

This gives players better control of the ball and improves their ability to direct it whatever the weather conditions. The extra grip will offer a particular advantage to goalkeepers, who find it an easier ball to catch.

The adidas TERRAPASS is constructed from 14 panels joined together using a thermal bonding technology which, along with the new surface, will give the ball greater swerve and accuracy in flight.

The TERRAPASS follows in a long line of official match balls, which adidas has provided balls for all of the UEFA and FIFA football championships since 1970.

Is it new kids on the block ? Another quiet day in football land then...here is a ball...its still round and slightly different colours than our last one but if we shout about it and get some gay looking models you might be stupid enough to buy one !

Gentle hint to Adidas: When you\'re producing special match balls for the U21 Euros and the Womens\' Euros, you\'re veering dangerously close to overkill. Before long there\'ll be \"official match balls\" for every primary school competition in the country...

Roginho, Roginho, Roginho. You\'re right, as always, but it can\'t be a joyous life now can it?

Yes, the current Arsenal home shirt is vastly inferior to the shirts of the seventies. Yes, very few, if any, football teams need three strips each season. No, no football will ever be better than the TangYAWN (what did I start THERE?!) but the fact is, on this site, we LIVE for the new stuff.

Good or crappy we NEED new shirts, and, dare I say it, a new football for every tournament (maybe every MATCH!). This football\'s cool. It\'s not the greatest ever, it might not be even in the top 10, but it\'s NEW and if it hadn\'t\'ve been released there\'d be a size 5 hole in my heart.

I may be exagerrating.

Jay29ers

Please tell me you are not going to fall for this consumer society nonsense.!!
... The TANGo rocks and should be played with in every tournament. Its like when you have loads of girlfriends over the years ....then all of a sudden the one you have is the best one and can never be bettered so you marry her and stop going out with lots of girl friends because you know its pointless ! because the one you have at home is all you ever need!! You know it makes sense.....
