Scotland seek new kit deal

The Scottish FA is seeking a new kit supplier for the national side after manufacturer Diadora went into liquidation.

Around 172 workers at Italian sportswear company Diadora SpA, which is being taken over by the founder and chairman of shoe retailer Geox SpA, are set to lose their jobs according to local media reports.

The Italian company's deal runs until 2010 and Scotland will wear the Diadora shirts until the end of the World Cup qualifying campaign.

Diadora has paid its £1m annual contract up to the end of this year.

Shorthouse said: "Obviously, we've been made aware that Diadora UK has gone into receivership.

"We have an agreement with Diadora that takes us through to the end of the World Cup campaign, so Scotland will still play the next few games in the current home kit."

The SFA has already met other potential sponsors about a new deal, Shorthouse added.

"We're in a good position because Scotland fans are extremely loyal to their national team and buy the shirts in huge numbers.

"We're an attractive proposition to other companies and are very confident this will be sorted out.

"It's a shame for the guys at Diadora, who have been great partners with us over the past six years."

Has to be Umbro, Adidas or Kappa

Please stay away from Nike, they have completely lost their touch in the football shirt market. Strips are awful.

Umbro would be absolutely fantastic for us, I think. Hopefully alongside some classic shirt reissues!

Sadly, the SFA is a tinpot operation right now, and we\'ll end up having our kits made by Primark.

It\'s going to be umbro, they already make England, Norn Iron and Republic shirts, they will want Scotland too because all the home nations shirts sell well........except Wales.

I want either Umbro or Nike, preferably Umbro because with Puma there would be those hideous arrows that just don\'t go on a Scotland top. :silly:

The SFA already have a more recent partnership with Puma, who were their ball supplier for internationals and the Scottish Cup until about 2 or 3 years ago when that transferred to Diadora as well.
