why didnt they make the away kit look like the 1909 FA cup kit its gonna be a hundred years soon?

you just answered your own question... its going to be 100 years SOON. why would you make a jersey thats supposed to commemorate a 100 year old jersey 99 years after the fact...

Also, what is it with people who don't understand how anniversaries work? Our first FA Cup winning campaign was the 1908/09 season, which will be 100 years ago next season (2008/09). That means that the OP is right and "j" is wrong. Also Nike are wrong as they always commemorate things a season too late.

100 years would be in 09... i understand the way a century works moron. nike's reasoning is the same as mine. for it to be a full 100 years, they do it as a jersey being released the season after, not the season of. you dont celebrate the year you were concieved on a birthday, but the actual day it falls on. and that red jersey you made ( i assume)... id wipe my ass with.

i agree, the shirt should be realesed the season after. in the case of our first fa cup win 2009/2010.
by the way i rally like the design and especially the idea as i have always hoped to see united in that shirt again.
also i hope we will some day have a green and yellow shirt again!! the newton heath shirt was simply fab!!!!!!!

Well, there's a C word that I could describe you with, and it isn't century. It has three fewer letters.

Then again I'm arguing with a someone who doesn't know what happens when you add 100 years to 1908/09. The 1909 FA Cup final was played on the 24th April 1909. 100 years on from that will be 24th April 2009. The season 2008/09 includes tha date and runs until 24th May. So why should we be wearing a tribute shirt in any other season but next? The same reasoning goes for Nike's decision to have a tribute to the 1967/68 European Cup win in 2008/09. As a football season spans two different years, if you celebrate it like Nike then you are celebrating it a year too late. If you celebrate it in the 40th/30th/100th or whatever season afterwards that is the correct way to do it, like Umbro have done with Forest's new kits.

sigh... good think you wasted your time typing out that lengthy explanation, as it still proves you are an imbecile. i never said it cant be celebrated, i simply said theres reason behind the whole "year late" release, as you claimed. i dont need to make a jersey to point out shit when i see it. fact is, it looks like a generic jersey you would see a youth recreational club wearing with a man utd patch thrown on it. its a good thing im entitled to my opinion, otherwise id be sparing your obvious oversensitive feelings...

Hands down that is a far better lokking kit than what we got! An updated Newton Heath inspired kit at some point would be great, also evokes memories of the 90's United resurgence, cantona, and co. Only for a modern look a teal green and a subtle gold yellow.... A 93-95 away black blue and gold inspired kit would also be preferable to the russia home shirt look of the new away shirt!
