adidas and UEFA presented the adidas “EUROPASS gloria”,

In the Oval Hall of Vienna’s MuseumsQuartier cultural complex, adidas and UEFA presented the adidas "EUROPASS gloria", the official ball for the Final of UEFA EURO 2008™. Herbert Hainer (adidas AG Chairman and CEO) presented the silver ball with black dots to UEFA President Michel Platini. The "EUROPASS gloria" was created specifically for the most important match of the UEFA European Football Championship 2008™ and will only be used for the Final of UEFA EURO 2008™, which takes place in Vienna on 29 June 2008.

Based on the Henri Delaunay Trophy, the "EUROPASS gloria" shimmers silver and, like the "EUROPASS", has twelve black dots, combining modernity with tradition. The suffix "gloria" in the ball’s name stands for the fame and glory that will be enjoyed by the winner of UEFA EURO 2008™. The name "EUROPASS" symbolizes the common "EURO" pass between the two host countries of Austria and Switzerland. It also represents every pass the players will make on the pitch during UEFA EURO 2008™. Last but not least, it signifies the cooperation among all the fans who will make their way to Switzerland and Austria for the final competition.

In eight white circles, the national flags of Austria and Switzerland have been integrated into the silver ball design. The twelve black dots contain the Henri Delaunay Trophy as well as graphic designs typical of all the nations that have left the pitch as champions with the Henri Delaunay Trophy in hand since the inception of the UEFA European Football Championship™.

Like the "EUROPASS" and the +TeamgeistTM, the official match ball of the 2006 FIFA World Cup™, the adidas "EUROPASS gloria" is constructed out of 14 panels using revolutionary Thermal Bonding Technology. This combined with the new PSC-Texture™ surface structure gives the "EUROPASS gloria" its perfect handling characteristics and allows the players exceptional ball control. The unique outer skin improves power transmission, creates greater swerve and increases accuracy on the pitch, in all conceivable weather conditions.

The "EUROPASS gloria" is now available in sporting goods stores.

adidas’ experience in football production is unequalled. adidas first began the production of footballs in 1963 and is now the world's leading manufacturer, always at the cutting edge of technology. adidas has supplied the Official Match Balls to all major UEFA and FIFA tournaments since 1970. From 2008, adidas also supplies the official ball for the Africa Cup of Nations organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

In the future, adidas will continue to use innovative technology to expand its world-leading position in football production and thus strengthen its position as the authentic symbol for high-performance sporting goods for professionals and amateurs alike. adidas also intends to unveil more revolutionary innovations in match ball production for the UEFA, FIFA and CAF competitions.
