"Keep changing the kit", that's what football fans voted in a poll to find out how often fans would like football clubs to change their football kits.

Replacing football kits annually topped the list with 43% of the votes ahead of a bi-annual change (41%).

Footy-Boots.com editor Andy Kay said: "Football clubs have been taking a bit of stick for releasing football shirts so frequently, so we wanted to see what our vistors had to say. It's pretty clear that they appreciate new merchandise being released regularly."

The poll conducted on Footy-boots.com had 1,000 votes with the following results:

Annually - 43% ---Every 2 years - 41% --- Every 3 years - 11% --- More than 3 years - 5%

Of the 20 teams in the Premier League this season, just two teams will be keeping their home shirts from last year, Manchester United and Newcastle United.

The trend for clubs to change their football kits regularly is well received by fans, despite protests suggesting that football clubs are taking advantage of their supporters.

Every 2 years who can honestly afford to change up to 3 shirts every year thats also not taking into account if your national side changes too!

Theres a credit crunch on you know :0

I personally believe football clubs should look to change their home kit every two years and their away kit every two years, but timed so every season a new football shirt is available to the public. I also feel third kits should be released every 3 years or so, just to add a bit of extra variety for the clubs fans.

I am quite surprised by the annual football shirt change, it proves that diehard fans will support and wear their clubs colours every year and wouldn

I\'m on the fence on this one. Yes, it is a rip off to fork out for a new shirt each year and i really, really wish pompey had kept last years kit for another year rather than the gold infused turd we have this season...

On the other hand, changing kits every year means we\'ll only have to put up with our embarrasment of a kit for a year...

Clubs like Newcastle, Man U, Liverpool & Chelsea, arsenal etc, change their HOME kit every 2 years and away and third every year, do that. Change your Home Kit every two years and away and (if you have a) third kit each year

The polls have a huge bias due to the fact that they are by websites which laud new merchandise. It should be noted that the 43% (backing an annual change) is not a majority. Also bear in mind how many people you see at football matches wearing shirts a season or two out of date.

The question is vague.

If someone selects \"Annually\" are they voting for:

a) all their side\'s kits to change each year
b) the home kit to change each year, or
c) just one of the kits to change each year (such as home kit one year, away kit the next)?

Garbage in, garbage out.

i think that a club should keep a kit for two years but change the home and away alternatively. so one season there is a new home kit and the next there is a new away and so on.
