Umbro launch new Ireland home kit

Umbro have launched the new 2008 Ireland home kit. The kit, which made its first appearance against Brazil in Croke Park, last month is now on sale nationwide.

Comfort and ease of movement are central in the shirt’s design. The shirt has been anatomically cut to emphasise the athleticism of the player, while a twill mesh body fabric ensures that it is both lightweight and breathable. Other benefits include a hybrid neckline and a specially shaped underarm gusset, which maximise comfort and mobility.

Jonathan Courtenay, Director of Football at UMBRO Ireland said: "Once again Umbro are extremely proud of the shirt we have created and are confident that the players will be equally proud to wear the new Ireland Home shirt under Giovanni Trappatoni's leadership. We feel that the ’08 Home Shirt represents a powerful combination of the old and new."

The seller added the following:

This auction is for a match worn 1981/83 Manchester City team shirt. There are several differences between team shirts and replica shirts of this period, for example, the embroidered Umbro logo and club badge. Added to that the different material to the replicas and a hand stitched number on the back, as well as the fact that it is long sleeved and you can tell that this is the original match shirt which is almost 27 years old.

It is one of the very early sponsored shirts, because later on, the SAAB sponsor was in white. Nicky Reid was the usual incumbant of the number 4 shirt in this period, in fact pretty much exclusively in the 1981/82 season when this shirt was used. Please look at the photos and you will see that it is the genuine article. This shirt is one of my large team shirt collection.

Coventry City 08/09 Puma 125th Anniversary shirt vote

Coventry City celebrates its 125th Anniversary next season and for this special moment in the club's history they are running a Coventry city home 08/09 Puma shirt vote.

Normally they would have consulted their supporters before this stage and put the choice of a kit to a public vote but for a number of reasons this was not possible this year. The main problem was due the fact that the takeover did not occur until late last year, by which time kit designers are well underway for the following season and the club had to make a quick decision and selected what they believed was the best kit presented by Puma. As you can see, the kit is a classic blue and white striped one which, over the years, has proved extremely popular with supporters and been worn during some of the Club's biggest successes, such as the 1987 FA Cup victory.

West Brom look for a new shirt sponsor for 08/09

Current sponsors T-Mobile have decided to step down following their four-year association with the club, although they will remain involved with the club.

The Baggies, who are fourth in the Championship and in the semi-finals of the FA Cup, are already in discussion with a number of potential sponsors.

Baggies Sales and Marketing Director Tim Gardiner said: "Given the team’s performance in the league and FA Cup this season, becoming West Bromwich Albion’s main club sponsor is a fantastic platform for any brand on a national and international level.

"We have demonstrated our ability to deliver great value for our partners and we feel this is a great opportunity for a new organisation to benefit from a relationship with a club that has great ambitions on and off the field."
