Juventus ditch stars but court controversy with slogan

The Serie A Champions' new 2012-13 kits will feature the slogan "30 sul campo" (30 [won] on the pitch) under the crest.  This is instead of the predicted third star which would have denoted the same claim regarding number of Scudettos.

According to official Serie A records, Juve only have 28 titles as they were stripped of two (2004-05 and 2005-06) due to the Calciopoli scandal.  The Bianconeri still believe they earned all the championship wins and were expected by many to add another star to the shirt to celebrate their victory in 2011-12.

In fact, Juve will not have any stars on the shirt next season.

Juventus commercial director Francesco Calvo confirmed the news, stating: “For weeks, we’ve heard several discussions about the possibility of displaying the third star on our shirt. The discussion involved various people having various opinions, from journalists to authorities, and Juventus didn’t take part in this argument because they know that only the club and its fans can define our identity.

"Our shirt must represent Juventus and its people. This is the reason why the League granted the option to have no star."

Juve do have three stars on their stadium and headquarters' façades but may have risked punishment from the Italian Football Federation and Italian League if they had put them on their shirts, as these details are allocated officially.

Calvo also confirmed that the 2012-13 Away kit, made by Nike, will be black.

So they still want to have those titles back?! I thought that there was evidence that they were involved with this scandal. Me bad!
My opiniion is that all the clubs shouldm't wear stars on the shirts. Not nice at all.

Eh, if they risk punishment with adding embroidered stars, they should order order Nike to encorporate 3(0) stars into the design of kit.

I'm really satisfied with this decision.

In Italy Juve fans think they have won 30 titles, all the rest of Italy, and the official palmares consider them to have won 28 times. Nobody will change opinion.

So two stars and "30 sul campo" imo it's the best decision.
I'm curious to see if the number will increase each new title, like "31 on the pitch", "32 on the pitch".. :-D

Anyway about calciopoli scandal, Juventus is surely implied, but Inter didn't pay its dues because of the prescription, and several issues are still coming out about that, so I understand why Juve fans still not accept their relegation and title revocation. I think they deserved it, but Inter at least didn't deserve to receive the 2005-06 title.
This is Italy, this is Italian football.

To be honest, now with the new matchfixing scandal, it seems like just about everyone in Italy cheats. You big club guys are now fighting over who has the shiniest P.O.S.

you're almost right, but the core of the fight is inter, FIGC is the big fans of inter so no wonder, even if inter was included in calciopoli, they're the only one who didn't have any sanction..

and what about all those rubbish penalties Milan were getting throughout the season?? Its so typical that when a referee makes a bad call in Juve's favor everyone looks to crucify them but when the decisions go the other teams way they are never accused of being cheats

So everytime a referee decides something at the advantage of Juve yhey've cheated? If you followed the serie a this seasin you'd have noticed that the referees were certainly not in favor of Juventus, more Milan if you ask me. Mila had an enormous amount of matchdeciding penalties.

There is a penal judgment that says that those two championships were regular. It's absurd that the Federation does not return the two titles. Luciano Moggi is innocent, but in Italy it's very difficult to win in tribunal, if you are innocent... Moggi needs time, like Enzo Tortora. Juventus has already been acquitted in a verdict about "Calciopoli", Moggi not yet. But the truth is already clear in the Frist Istance: "Il dibattimento in realt?

Calciopoli was a farce. To this day there's no proof of the culpability of Moggi and Juventus. In fact, in the recent criminal trial, Moggi was convict only for risk of fraud, not because of fraud; plus, the judge has sentenced that the Serie A 05-06 was regular, and the draw for referees was absolutely correct. Do you know why there was a Calcopoli? Ask Moratti (Inter Milan), ask him why Telecom Italia (controlled by the Moratti Family) was spying Juventus (and other major companies and persons in Italy). Ask him why Guido Rossi (an ex President of Telecom Italia) was chosen in 2006 to decide in order to maintain the 2 scudetti (04-05 and 05-06) to Juventus or not. And why all the phone calls between Moratti or Facchetti and Carraro and many italian referees disappear during the trial??

You can never really know what to think about calciopoli. Some very very shady business went down in the trials.. I hope the shirts look nice. They should put the quote on the inside of the badge like they did with the away a couple seasons ago. I don't know how good it will look under the badge on the front of the shirt. Can't wait to see the kits with the scudetto patch! And CL too! :) forza juve

Juve should be relegated back to Serie B until they officially acknowledge that their claim to 30 titles was bogus. If they don't accept the result of the trial then this stuff keeps happening. They need to throw all Italian clubs out of Europe for a few years. Match fixing is unacceptable.

you talk about results of the trial... well, the result of the trial in naples is that the 04/05 and 05/06 championships were regular. so juve should be given those two scudettis back

Unfortunately for Juve civilian courts have nothing to do with football. The Italian FA found Juve, Milan, Lazio, and Fiorentina guilty of match fixing. If you continue to dismiss the seriousness of this - which destroys the game - you end up right back in the same spot 12 years later. Match fixing is a cancer that must be cut out of the sport and sporting culture. 28 on the pitch, 2 more in the back alley.

I think Juve should put 3'000 stars on their jersey. Than the Italian Football Federation should give them ALL titles since 1890. So we can begin to play football again.

Same old Juve.... always cheating. (cit. B.Clough)
