Aberdeen Football Club is delighted to announce the exciting news that adidas will be the Club's new kit supplier from this summer.
The partnership will give adidas exclusive rights to provide both the team playing and training kit, which will only be available to purchase via the Club retail store at Pittodrie Stadium and online. The Club will now also be taking control of all retail operations.
The new kits and training wear will feature adidas ClimaCool™ technology, a mixture of heat and moisture controlling materials, ventilation channels and 3D fabrics which improve air flow to the skin in the key heat zones. To commemorate the opening year of the partnership, both Home and Away playing kits will include a special, limited edition 'legacy' crest for Season 2011-12, while the Team Recruitment logo will also feature, with the Aberdeen based multi-disciplined service contractor having agreed to continue as Club Sponsor for a fourth year.
Dons supporters will get their first opportunity to see the new Home and Away kits from next month alongside the newly refurbished club shop. The Home kit and training wear will be launched and on sale in early July.
Aberdeen FC Chief Executive Duncan Fraser said, "adidas was synonymous with the Club during our most successful period and I'm sure our supporters will be absolutely delighted with the news that we are to be reunited with them.
"In addition, being able to secure a direct partnership with a global brand leader demonstrates our desire of where we wish to position the Club. Over the last few years many clubs have secured deals through secondary suppliers but this was something we were keen to move away from if we could, but only on the basis that we could land a market-leading brand with a reputation for quality. In adidas we have secured what we all believe to be the number one brand in football and for a Club such as ourselves, this is a hugely significant announcement."
Steve Holland, adidas Commercial Football Partnerships Manager said, '' adidas and Aberdeen share some unique history from when we last partnered back in 1979 - 87, we are delighted to be working closely with the club once again and hope that we can both emulate some of the previous successes. Aberdeen will become an integral part of our Scottish strategy and we look forward to a very positive relationship with the club and the fans''.
