birmingham city xtepBirmingham City have today completed a club record signing off the pitch in an exclusive five year kit deal with Xtep International Holdings Ltd.

This sponsorship deal will see the sportswear manufacturer produce the club's playing and training kit from the start of the 2010/11 season.

Birmingham City FC's Vice Chairman, Peter Pannu added: "This is a fantastic deal for the football club.

"Not only is it a superb deal commercially, being the biggest sponsorship the club has acquired, but also on a brand level as it promotes the club internationally.

"Xtep are big players in the sportswear market in China and this partnership will expand the Birmingham City FC brand in the Far East."

Birmingham City FC will be added to a portfolio which includes Disney Sport (Shanghai) and the Koling brand.

The record deal will replace the club's three year sponsorship with UMBRO which will conclude at the end of the current season.

It is the club's intention that Blues supporters will have a direct input into the final selection of the design of the new playing kit.

Further details of the design and launch of the new 2010/11 kit will be announced in due course.

That is hilarious. From the exemplary quality of Umbro to.... Xtep. I imagine this'll be similar to what Jako did with the Heerenveen kits.

Hmm, a Chinese brand........anything to do with the new owners?

I was expecting an Umbro shirt in the same style as the new Colo - Colo, Santos And Everton VDM shirts - classy retro styled, based on the 1970s penguin, something like this http://www.footballshirtculture.com/components/com_joomgallery/img_originals/fantasy_kit_design_1/birmingham_city_20090704_1849403991.png

, but it seems that brum fans are going to get a substandard shirt instead, and dont be suprised if brum get a cheap
and nasty kit.

But I could be wrong

It's the press release that makes my blood run cold....

While it isn't surprising considering the new owners, I don't like the move. Umbro have quality materials and some of the best designs out there. I love this season's kits for Birmingham City so there will be high expectations from their new kit manufacturer come this Summer. They better show us something amazing.

'Google' Xtep and see who owns them.
They are part of a huge portfolio of companies owned by the Carlyle Group.
Now 'Google' Carlyle Group and learn all about their arms/weapons/military interests.
You might also like to know that Carlyle Group board members include: the Bush family, Bin Laden family, John Major, Tony Blair, etc... Shocking.

I came from china, but I don like the brand Xtap either, it's not a popular brand in china, the only good sports brand in china is Li-Ning, the sponsors of Spain, Greece basketball team etc.

Hope Xtap could make some thing amazing```, good luck Birmingham city, wish R.Babel could join the team soon.

In china, there have lot talent young players but need to learn how to be a pro as euro players, why not sign some young players it'll bring some fresh blood to Birmingham!
