Charlton have agreed a four-year deal for Nike to become the club's new kit manufacturer, the club announced on Friday.

The world-renowned sports manufacturer will provide two new home and away strips as the Addicks return to the Championship in 2011/12.

And Just Sport, on behalf of Nike, will also take over the running of the Valley Superstore.

"Just Sport is absolutely delighted to have reached agreement with Charlton," said business director Michael Heslop.

"The set up at the club is excellent and we look forward to bringing the Nike brand to the club and its supporters.

"We also look forward to working alongside the club to develop the Superstore, which will also include a refit, bringing the Nike feel and shopping experience. We are currently developing the new online store for the club, which we trust supporters will find easy to use with excellent service and product choice.

"Our aim is to bring new product to the club store on a regular basis to offer fresh and up-to-date product. Not only do we bring in product made with Nike's latest materials and designs, but we will also ensure that the store is stocked with club-branded accessories from scarves to garden gnomes!"

The announcement follows Tuesday's news that Charlton's kit supply deal with Italian firm Macron would conclude at the end of 2011/12.

Addicks chief executive Stephen Kavanagh said: "We're delighted to have agreed a four-year deal with Just Sport, who represent Nike, and it's fantastic to be working with one of the world's leading kit manufacturers and brands.

"With our current deal with Macron concluding at the end of the season, we had to act swiftly.

"We talked to a number of companies, but when it comes to sports manufacturers, you can't get better than Nike and we had no hesitation in coming to an agreement."

Thanks to Marcus

I don't think Charlton would do a step forward with a nike kit, beacuse this will probably be a simple nike template :sigh: . I really like macron, simple but i like some of them.

These are always a bit misleading as the deal itself isn't with Nike which means they aren't going to be getting anything personal to them just Teamwear kits.

Personally I'd rather have the smaller manufacturer who is prepared to design a kit for you.

They'll have an identical kit to Barnsley, then.

Maybe C D Paradoja you are unaware,Umbro are owned by Nike and have been chruning out kits more like Nike's year on year. It's just a slow takeover process to see Umbro disappear. Effectively England wear Nike already.
:sigh:

Of course am aware nike owns umbro, what I ment is that in recent months nike has been moving very agressively signing deals with a number of English clubs, it would not be weard that in the next couple of years they would also take away England`s national team from umbro

The smaller firms who have designed Charlton's kits haven't really come up with any real winners. Maybe a nice, straightforward Nike template is just what they need.

No? Are you speaking from experience? You're making me nervous!

The glimpse I had of the kit today - when I saw it on the Red Devils who parachuted into the ground wearing it - was actually encouraging. It seemed, well, sleek. Though one man's sleek is another man's plain, I suppose.

As an MK Dons fan (Put the club to a side for this conversation) we had them a few years ago and it was awful to see nothing but tacky teamwear scattered around your club shop. Nothing exclusive at all and it all looks the same

There are pictures of our new kit around the net. It's really smart. I loved our kit this year but it's a refreshing change. Yes, it is completely plain but that's what I like about it I think. I'm not speaking from biased as I know some of our kits (such as the cabrini one) have been absolutely terrible. It's got a collar but other than that it's just plain red :) really pleased!

Found a picture circulating on Twitter and rehosted it for your viewing pleasure: http://i.imgur.com/tWl0g.jpg

Doesn't look awful. I do like it more than some of the more recent kits. Not sure if I can justify dropping £40 on it though. Maybe if I can get a deal on it...

I love it when lower league teams announce a sponsorship deal with Nike, then you read on and find it's a deal with a supplier of teamwear that's licensed by Nike.

A Palace fan making a jibe about flirting with relegation. You lot really do have incredibly short memories don't you. Rommedahl in the last minute!
Anyway, I'm still undecided, some would call it a simple, sleek design but I think it looks a little too basic. My main problem with it is the colour, it's not the right red.

I'll keep my money in my pocket for the time being, maybe the away kit will be better.
