everton sign nike kit deal

Everton Football Club today confirms it has signed a three-year deal with global sportswear giant Nike.

Nike, whose existing portfolio of clubs includes Manchester United, Barcelona and Arsenal, will take over from Le Coq Sportif on Everton’s royal blue jersey for the 2012/13 season.

The sports giant will be the official and recognised technical partner on all of Everton’s match kits, which will go on sale here later this summer.

The new kit sponsorship deal, negotiated in close collaboration with the Club’s retail and merchandise partner Kitbag, represents Nike’s first association with Everton and will allow the Blues the opportunity to extend their retail opportunities.

Along with the exclusively designed kits for the 2012/13 campaign, Nike will also produce the Club’s official training wear and a Nike Pro Combat range.

Chief Executive Robert Elstone said: “Following all the speculation of the past few months, we are delighted to confirm that Everton is about to kick-off a new, three-year partnership with the world’s leading sportswear brand.

“We’re all excited by the prospect of working with Nike’s design, marketing and retailing teams and look forward to seeing some impressive, original kits and products, as well as being on hand to take advantage of new retail opportunities that we’ll be working with Kitbag to drive forward.

“Nike has an impeccable reputation and we are confident that our supporters will be excited by the new partnership, with all of us looking forward to seeing our new home shirt this summer.”

Marc Van Pappelendam, VP/GM of Nike UK & Ireland, said:  “We at Nike are delighted to be entering into this partnership with Everton – they’re a prestigious Club with an illustrious history and we’re looking forward to equipping the team with their playing and training kits.

“Evertonians are renowned for their passion and we are excited about showcasing this in Everton’s range for 2012/13.”

Andy Anson, CEO of Kitbag, added: “We are absolutely delighted to be working with Nike as they become the official partner of Everton. This historic Club deserves to be with the best possible partners and there is no-one more appropriate than Nike.

“We are incredibly excited to be working with the Club and Nike together to create exciting new kits and other sports and fashion products which we hope Everton fans will be proud to wear.”

Thanks to Liam

I think Nike are poor these days, produced some quality kits pre 2010 imo, then everyone who had Nike seemed to have poor designs, and almost everyone had the same goalkeeper kit template.

Hope for Everton's sake they get original designs and not those terrible teamwear designs

I think these are going to be "second tier" kits - not the exclusivity deal that Man Utd, Barca, Celtic have with them.

So don't get too excited - yet.

They will be getting exclusive kits, not 'second tier' kits

F**k off Gaz you prick!

Always hating on me all the time, and now hating on my team aswell??

Atletico Madrid, Aston Villa, and Celtic all get exclusive kits, and we're a bigger team than any of them, so we'll get the top teir kits along with Barca, Man utd, Juve, etc!

Yo Gaz take a look at Watford's trophy cabinet. Its basically just a 1984 F.A Cup final display. And we all know what happened that day, we whiped the floor with you!
The greatest day in your club's history is just a mear footnote in Everton's great history, with our several league and cup wins.

Think this bitter post has more to do with this.
Shame on you Gaz.

Show the Waz man some love now y'all!!!

Everton are not a bigger team than any of the clubs mentioned, you silly, delusional man. They're good, I like Everton, but Atletico are by far a bigger club, Celtic I'd like to think are bigger and Villa is arguable. I really can't see Everton getting exculsive kits, but it would be nice to see. Le Coq have done well with them so Nike have a lot to beat.

And Celtic's kits have only been exclusive all round since last year. Before that it was a bog-standard kit each year except the 1967 anniversary year. They're exclusive now though.

I will be accepting your apologies when we see Tim Cahill modelling a shirt that will be worn by every other park team on Hackney Marshes.

And who was hating on who? I simply stated that it would be a "second tier" Nike deal as the article states:

"Marc Van Pappelendam, VP/GM of NIKE UK & IRELAND"

A third party subsidiary, not an exclusive deal.

However I'm big enough to admit if I am wrong about this, which I hope I'm not as Everton deserve a bespoke Nike kit, not the cheap nylon knockoffs that teams like Palace and Aberdeen wear.

Now go and run along and troll on someone else.

I agree mate! Teams like Swansea, Stoke, Aberdeen, Dundee Utd are all used for Nike and Adidas to advertise their catalogue of team kits. I can see Everton falling into that catagory.

Teams like Stoke and Swansea aren't the 4th most succesful English team though are they, you nugget!

Swansea are representing a country by playing in EPL. And even they get second tier kits. Everton might have a great past, but at the present Everton are no bigger than they clubs. So don't call me a nugget because your holding on to your clubs past and can't except their future.

adidas would never sponsor Everton as they have sponsored Liverpool too many times you utter fool :-*

Liverpool are leaving Adidas. Nike sponsor Celtic they had Rangers, Umbro sponsor Rangers they had Celtic. Spurs , Chelsea, West Ham, Fulham and Arsenal have worn Adidas and Umbro.

Not forgetting Umbro supplied BOTH Everton & Liverpool in the early 80s at the same time! Mind you every other team had Umbro kit in those days.

Umbro supplied both Rangers & Celtic for years before Rangers got the Admiral kit deal in 1990 untill 1992 when they had a big deal with adidas.

Umbro supplied BOTH Man Utd and Man City from 1992 until Man City moved to Kappa in 1997.

Should have gone with Adidas. Nike are crap and use cheap material.

With Liverpool leaving Adidas, I expect Adidas to sign a big club to their stable. However, as a Chelsea fan, i have a low opinion of Adidas, and would rather be with Umbo. Whilst Nike make nice looking shirts they are less focused on a team tradional colours i.e. Man U with a black V and Arsenal with red sleeves

The black 'v' was there for a specific reason, to commemorate the Old Trafford anniversry I believe..

But I agree, Chelsea have had one good kit since we left Umbro and that was the 06/08 one, the rest have been cack and the material is awful, would rather have Umbro or Le Coq

Say what you want, but Everton are FIRST RATE in Liverpool and this kit deal confirms it. Rocking Nike kits while the rapidly fading force that is Liverpool FC will be wearing cheap and nasty "Warrior" kits from now on. :D :D :D

It's Dundee UNITED you are thinking of. Dundee are a completely different team. I support neither but it's getting a bit annoying people referring to one Dundee team all the time just cause one of them doesn't play in Scotland's top flight. I can just imagine the uproar if everyone just started referring to Manchester. Not having a go at you DB 10, just getting it off my chest :o

Le Coq Sportif have been a disaster for Everton (see away shirts 09/10 and 10/11. As well as goalkeeper shirts 11/12), it's only the outfield shirts this season and our home one last year that have been decent really (09/10 was alright, horrible to play in though)

I'm absolutely delighted with Nike, other than United's from last season I can't think of a bad kit that they've made

A bad kit they've made? Try United's next season!

Anyway, you forgot the excellent cream third kit from last season. LCS have done three great Everton kits in my opinion - the current home, the 2009/10 away and the 2010/11 third. Current away kit is decent but fairly generic. At least they were Unique to Everton though, that will not be the case with Nike.

Ha, it will still be better than Liverpool's kit, which will be made by a division of New Balance, makers of really dull running shoes. Everton will definitely have the Reds beat in the kit creativity department.

Apologies, I forgot about the cream one, that was a nice kit to be fair. Didn't quite make up for the bright pink monstrosity though...

Shit, is that design for United's kit real?!!? I thought it was a piss-take or just a possibility, surely the club wouldn't allow that to hit the shelves??

Oh, it's real, I'm afraid.

Which will be hilarious.

look forward to your templates, late release dates, stock shortages, expensive training kit and horrible dry fit material...

evertons home kits at least have been nice the last few years, away ones were a bit ropey but sportif did an ok job

anyway to be fair with the way the finances are set up now its not about who makes them, its about how much they pay, where are the details of that?

so they replaced Aston Villa with Everton
i think adidas will go with a new big club in england to fill the space liverpool will leave behind.. i think man city.. but not next year

i'm not sure they will i think we will see more new brands coming into football kits like warrior with liverpool beacuse they are willing to let the club have a larger slice of the cake when it comes to selling shirts abroad. Which nike and adidas don't want it's the same with villa. Next season spurs will have Under Armour. these compaines are trying to break into the football market to establish themselves a big brands across europe and further, so are willing to take the intial loss.

Just hope that they offer us larger Evertonians the chance to purcase the new kits as at least with LCS the sizes went up to a 6o inch chest. Hope the nike sizes aren't gonna be restricted to s,m,l,xl, xxl etc.
Guest

Really enjoyed having Le Coq as they produced kits based on our history granted some looked garbage but at least they were not generic teamwear efforts. Can see Nike being similar to S.Korea or United away this season although I hope I'm wrong..

I'd be generally thankful if someone could explain the business model/logic of Everton as an example of a team which changes it's kit supplier every three years or so. What's in it for clubs to do this?

Pick your kit out of a cataolgue, usually the man utd kit from 2 years ago...
See Dundee for reference...

Whoever said Celtic are a bigger club than everton is an idiot, the only reason they get in competitions like uefa is because there isn't another good team in Scotland. They wouldn't stand a chance in the prem and everton would shite on them!

I agree with this guy. My analagy:
Rangers + Celtic = Barnsley/Coventry/Derby/Peterborough
Motherwell + Aberdeen + Hearts + Hibs = Brentford/Notts County/Stevenage
The rest of the SPL = Tranmere/Scunthorpe/ Southend/ Oxford
Gazhorn

Celtic's team is poor because of the uncompetitive nature of the SPL, and that the SPL has no money or the means to compete with the bigger leagues in Europe.

That's not Celtic's fault! They've been trying for years to get into the English league. Swansea, Wrexham and Cardiff are there so why not Celtic.

Think of how much TV revenue they could bring, not to mention every away end sold out wherever they go?

In terms of the club itself, Celtic is right up there with Man Utd, Liverpool, Real Madrid, Juve and Barca with regard to fanbase. Celtic have supporters all over the world, especially in North America. Anyone that thinks that Everton are a bigger CLUB than Celtic are delusional fools.
Guest

Guest

Celtic are a big club (big fanbase, stadium ect), but they are a shit team and wouldn't stand a chance in the premiership, maybe not even championship play-offs, probably bottom-half.
Most Celtic trophies come from Scotland, Scottish league champions 45 time, Scottish cup 35, Scottish league cup 14. NOT EXACTLY HARD !

note to all celtic fans .....the last thing and the only thing of note you have ever done is win the 67 european cup,.1....no english premier league club would let its players be seen in the papers holding up a board with celtic v air utd 8 pound adults 3 pound kids and oaps,or buy your discounted celtic shirt now only £12 in the same paper(daily record)every 2 days,2.....your league offered place to gretna green fc and there mega 300 plus fan base just so once again you and the other joke of a club across your city, had less competition,in that Sunday park league for championship and league 1/2 players.you should be embarassed to even compare yourselfs to brighton let alone any of the english top 5 most successful league clubs ( man utd, liverpool, arsenal, everton, aston villa) .and rember when these clubs have bad times, the fans stay with them showing the type of loyalty your clubs board could only dream about during rangers dominant years,in fact that massive support or part time support as those with memories of the late 80,s and most of the 90s nearly crippled the celtic with there no show.the only respect you will ever get from any english football fan is to work your way upto the english premier league and staying there while building a club that can compete for europa league places, with the championship players you can only afford, and remember this before your pathetic legions of northern scottish fishing town smackheads (who have never been south of aberdeen let alone glasgow)decide to pipe up newcastle utd went down from the english premier league with a hardcore 52,000 fans and a billionare owner, not to mention a side full of internationals,so please dont bore us with talk of your support, because its a part time joke, your dream lives in that joke of a football league, let the bigger boys in england deal with the man stuff.

oh and finally when you think you can compete lets not forget english footballs emerging powers chelsea, man city, newcastle utd, sunderland ,spurs, all with massive support, but first you'll have to navigate past your west hams leeds utds sheffield utd and wed once again with fan bases bigger than any of your spl rivals, even luton town in the blue square bet premier (englands top flight non league div) averaged 5,300 per game mansfield 3,900 both average more a home game than kilmarnock motherwell dunfermeline one of which is laughably competeing in europe next year.!!!!!!!!!!!!.AFTER BEATING YOUR SUPPOSIDLY MASSIVE CLUB .........time to jog on and do the little club supporter thing and adopt an english team because you met someone in benidorm from stoke hahahaha.

last and by no means least......WATFORD!!!!!!!!!!!! w.t.f. are they still going? granted they have a better squad of no marks than celtic, but unlike celtic no one even knows or cares where that little place is.occaisionally we are reminded that this place still exists when an itv camera at a pathetic england friendly against faroe islands pans in on few fat blokes next to a union flag with the towns name on it,thick southern cunts dont even know what an english flag looks like..(white with a red cross.....gazhorn!!!!!!).a very quick roll of honour for this laugh out load usually bankrupt football side, cant call you a club...clubs have fans!!!. had a bit of a team from the late 70s until the early to middle 80s,beat plymouth argyle to reach an fa cup final which they lost, and were saved from oblivion 3 times by a singer whos only number 1 came as a result of a member of the monarchy being killed, and is more famous for being a raving homosexual in stupid glasses than singing.watford history over.oh and the one time they came up to the premier league they somehow found a load of part time supporters to fill the blue square south ground they reside in....lesson over.so everytime gazhorn pipes up just fill his replies with hahahahahahaha watford hahahahahahahahaha and give the prick a reminder of how small he and his side are.
