Motherwell Football Club, in conjunction with PSL Team Sports, announced an new kit deal with one of the world’s leading sports brands, Canterbury of New Zealand.

The deal will see the company provide Motherwell with first team kit, training apparel and its revolutionary BaseLayer products for a period of four years beginning at the start of the 2009/2010 season.

“I am delighted that the club has managed to secure such a well known, respected worldwide brand to manufacture and produce our kits for next season,” said Motherwell manager Mark McGhee.

“I have been given details of some of the technical elements to the garments that we will be provided with and anything that manages to get a few more percent out of the players on a matchday is a very welcome addition.

“I have seen the designs for the new kits and they look fantastic – I am sure the Motherwell support will be delighted when they are revealed.”

Already well known in Scotland for being the kit partner of the Scottish National Rugby team, Canterbury entered the football market for the first time in 2007 with English Premier League side Portsmouth FC – subsequent deals have followed with European sides Deportivo La Coruna, Lille and AZ Alkmaar.

Canterbury has also established official BaseLayer partnerships with the likes of SPL sides Rangers and Hearts.

“Following years of association with rugby in Scotland we are delighted to announce our first football kit agreement with Motherwell Football Club,” said Mostyn Thomas, Marketing Director at Canterbury of New Zealand.

"As an SPL side, the club will also provide us with great exposure and help to engage with a new audience.

“Motherwell is a forward thinking club with an excellent record in Scottish football and one that we feel fits well alongside Canterbury’s brand. We look to working with the club over the coming seasons.”

PSL, the clubs’ official retail partner, have been instrumental in developing Canterbury’s brand in the Rugby, Cricket and Hockey team wear markets in Scotland. They are now delighted to have introduced Canterbury and their technically advanced kit to the football market where they have ten years experience in running SPL and SFL club shops.

Rennie Keith, PSL Sales Director, is delighted to have brought Motherwell FC and Canterbury together, cementing their existing partnerships with both organisations.

“The advanced technical ability of Canterbury’s products is a perfect fit with the aspirations of Motherwell Football Club. Bringing a brand of this stature to the club will be exciting for the supporters as well and we look forward to the unveiling of the new range at the ‘Well Shop.”

Kits by company that made it\'s name in Rugby, and a pitch that looks like it\'s been subjected to too much Rugby.

Never let it be said the Well don\'t do joined-up thinking.

\"in conjunction with PSL Team Sports\".....does this mean its one of those distributer deals like Fulham, Aberdeen, MK Dons etc have with \'nike\'? Farnborough had a \'deal\' with canterbury which sees them wearing teamwear kits. Is this the same?

PSL (Provan Sports Limited) run our club shop which is situated at the ground. They handle all our kit supplies but ultimately the deal is between Motherwell F.C. and Canterbury. Provan Sports are there to ensure everything runs smoothly.

It would have been nice if they could have showed the design of the new shirt. But If the Portsmouth kit is anything to go by the Motherwell fans can look forward to a quality shirt.
