English side Sheffield Wednesday have announced a new kit partnership with Sondico (part of the Sports Direct family of brands).

The three year deal - commencing in 2014-15 - will see all the club's teams being provided with playing and training wear, as well as replica retail wear.

Neil Burke of Sports Direct expressed his pride in the partnership and the excitment at the prospect of "two major sporting brands unit[ing]."

Sheffield Wednesday's Peter Pridmore reiterated Burke's words, and stressed that the Owls would be “viewed as [Sondico's] flagship club for 2014-15" and that they would be provided with a "bespoke range of designs.”

They have the POTENTIAL to be huge,Any rich benefactors fancy a punt?Go on ,you never know what it may lead to. If Wednesday were in the prem you'd have 40,000 each home game no sweat.truly a sleeping giant of a club.

Unless Sondico are planning something big, this does not appear to be good news. Portsmouth aside Sondico have made small clubs shirts i.e. Yeovil, Port Vale, MK Dons and Dagenham.
As for Wednesday being big. They probably should be in the Premier League, but the year before they were last relegated they were the 15th best supported English team. The 15th best supported team will always find in difficult to stay up year after year. The 1990's aside Wednesday have spent very little of the past 40 years in the top flight.

True - just 15 of the last 40 years in the top flight.
But - ask any fan in the lower leagues for the teams who bring the most fans to away games, and Wednesday will be one of the top 2 or 3 almost every time. Their season has been over for weeks, they weren't going up, and weren't going down. Nothing to play for and they still sold out their allocation at Portman Rd on Saturday. That was a 12:15 kick off too, meaning an EARLY start for those thousands of travelling Owls. Respect to that club.
