Malta were playing their matches on what was literally a sand pit at this time.
They fell behind to a 15th minute Peter Nicholas goal and Brian Flynn wrapped things up in the second half with the match finishing 2-0. Fabri joined the action as a half-time substitute. The Homor did manage a famous draw with West Germany on the sand at the Empire Stadium but finished bottom of this qualification group. The Sliema Wanderers stalwart Fabri made 28 appearances scoring 3 goals for Malta in his international career between 1973-83.
