Romania 1985 player shirt by Adidas believed to have been match worn by Cămătaru in the 1986 World Cup Qualification Group 3 match against England played at Wembley on the 11th September '85.
The two sides had drawn 0-0 in Bucharest in May and there was nothing to seperate them again here under the floodlights in London.
Romania had the best of the early exchanges with a young Gheorghe Hagi rattling Shilton's crossbar but it was the Three Lions who took the lead midway through the first half through Hoddle. The Tricolorii were not deterred though and Cămătaru showed great pace and guile to net an equaliser in the 60th minute and the match ended all square at 1-1. Despite their impressive showings against England Romania who had qualified for their first tourmament since 1970 in Euro '84 were edged out into 3rd place in the group by Northern Ireland. Cămătaru had a superb scoring record for Craiova and was soon snapped up by Dinamo Bucharest, the centre forward represented his country 73 times in total scoring 21 goals and would be in the squad 5 years later when they did make it to Italia '90.
Correct player size flock print professionally heat pressed, embroidered crest machine stitched, light transfer Adidas trefoil, made from 62% polyester and 38% cotton, design not commercially available, swapped with an England player and comes from their own personal collection - a signed letter verifying this will be provided.
