Los Blancos managed to recover to make it through the group stage and progress to the Quarter Finals as runners-up to Ajax though they would lose out to eventual winners Juventus at this round. Milla was an unused substitute on the night but did make 5 appearances in the competition in this year, playing 38 times in all competitions now in his 6th season at the club after signing from rivals Barcelona.
