Spain's success in winning EURO 2008 in Vienna has greatly promoted the sales of replica kits of the national team, a spokesperson for shirt manufacturer Adidas announced on Monday.
Replica shirts had virtually sold out before Spain's 1-0 triumph over Germany in the final and since then Adidas has been producing replicas at a rate of around 10,000 per day.
The company spokesperson said "We can't give out exact numbers so as not to aid our competitors, but it is true to say that we are delighted with the appeal the shirt has had among the fans and the way it is selling,"
The most popular players' names the fans have chosen to have copied on the back of their shirts are those of strikers David Villa and Fernando Torres along with midfielder Xavi Hernandez and goalkeeper and team captain Iker Casillas.
