Pony has filed a trademark infringement lawsuit against Nike, alleging a recent marketing campaign by the its athletic apparel competitor too closely resembles its own logo.

American sportswear firm Pony have accused Nike of infringing on its trademarked chevron logo in Nike’s V for Victory campaign.

Pony, use a chevron, or V as their logo. Back in the 90’s you may have seen their logo on football kits when Pony invested in football.

Pony have taken umbrage to Nike’s recent use of a V in a campaign that features footballers Cesc Fabregas, Andrei Arshavin, Joe Cole, Claude Makalele and Didier Drogba. The campaign was to promote a jacket that featured a chevron design and the players who featured in the publicity shots made V signs at the camera.

Pony says in the complaint that Nike's "V is for Victory" campaign imitates the chevron logo seen on Pony shoes and other products. The company is seeking unspecified damages.
As a result, Pony complain that Nike campaign imitates the chevron logo seen on Pony shoes and other products. Pony are seeking unspecified damages.

So Barry Ferguson and Allan McGregor of Rangers and Scotland were just joining the Nike \"V for Victory\" campaighn and not being rude to George Burley and the Scotland squad then?!
Pony must be skint if they are looking for damages for an ad campaign.
CEO\'s of the two companies in a sealed room with one loaded gun and let them fight it out.

We should add the Puma CEO to the room, just look at Bordeaux\'s kit. Why stop there, let\'s add Hummel, Airdrie United FC, and the Churchill family.

Haven\'t Pony noticed the Rugby League kits yet?! the majority of the teams in the league have a \"V\" on the shirts as well as some football teams having \"V\'s\" on there shirts. Anyway there logo isn\'t a \"V\" its more of a \"tick\" more than anything so Pony can just go swivel in my opinion. What a joke!

I think the point is not the V on the track jackets, but the V on the guys chest, made through the \'steam\', which has a similar shape to a reflected pony chevron (Think Sure for men might want to look at that as well!)

But my overriding feeling is that Pony are looking for a quick money grab. I think they figure that Nike are likely to settle out of court (or at least may settle) without wanting the negative publicity. But if I were Nike I would not be very worried by this, and would say to Pony \'Bring it on\'

I\'d always thought Pony\'s trademark was an obvious rip off of Nike\'s to be honest... It\'s just a mirror image of the swoosh really.

Only in America...

Pony are just looking for excuses because they faded into obscurity and looking for a way back. Nike would obviously be unfazed by this. The V looks bugger all like the Pony logo, which isn\'t even a symmetrical V for crying out loud.

The censoredney rhyming slang phrase \'Pony and Trap\' springs to mind here.

Perhaps Hummel should take Pony to court for copying their logo.

Every school should also sue Nike since the swoosh looks a lot to the sign used to point at a correct answer!!!!

And maybe, they should also sale our souls to s a t a n  while they are at it

You should check your history first - Pony and their logo were aroung a long long time before Nike came on the scene. If anything it\'s Nike who stole Pony\'s logo.
