MATCH OF THE EIGHTIES - 1985-86 SEASON

The last from a six-part series, first broadcast by the BBC in 1997, in which Danny Baker takes a retrospective look back at the previous decade's football.

The arrival of Gary Lineker at Everton leads to the departure of fans' favourite, Andy Gray, as the two Merseyside clubs go head-to-head for both the league title and the FA Cup. That is despite a blistering start to the season by Manchester United, which went unwitnessed by the nation at large as a result of a blackout on TV coverage of football in the first half of the season. Finally, the England of Bobby and Bryan Robson head to Mexico, but suffer elimination after the infamous 'Hand of God' goal. (50 minutes part 1-5)
