Manchester United 80-82 Adidas shirt

Up for auction on Ebay: Manchester United 80-82 Adidas match worn shirt

The seller added the following: This is a very rare chance to own a match worn Manchester United shirt. This shirt was used in the 80-81 season by subs.

All badges are embroidered and number 12 is felt. The shirt is in good condition with only a bit of bobbling and slightly cracked to the numbers.

But considering these shirts where used for a whole season and not half a match like these days it really has stud the test of time.

It is clearly a great item for the true fan or collector, or maybe to frame and/or raffle as a great fund-raiser.

I got a fake one like this for xmas.... the badge embroidery is quility but the material is very thin. The away shirt United had this season was there best away kit ever.... IMO

totally agree, this shirt design would have been great with a Nice Sponsor design on it in white colour.

Dubious to say the least on this one. The seller needs to show a close up of the tag, certainly not something to part with serious money for

I have been after one of these for a long time. This is clearly not a fake. Look at the badges and why would anyone fake a 12 shirt surely you would do 1 - 11. The tag should say in black 65% cotton and 35& polyester and say medium below that(or which ever size it is) with washing info at the back but not adidas. Not sure why they did this but this is a good tell tale sign of the real deal. Be aware this is the only shirt that adidas was not featured on the label. I have seen one of these in the man u museum and took photos of all the years shirts there so I can spot a fake. So if you ever need any help message me. Paul

The exact reason someone would put a number 12 on the back is that it would be one of the least obvious numbers. The lengths the fakers go to are unbelievable, I have seen several early 70\'s Liverpool shirts which are completely \"made up\" but completely convincing, down to faded numbering. eBay has unfortunately been swmped by fakers, from the sublime to the ridiculous, 2-3 major shirt resellers consistently have interesting shirts, the rest are dubious to say the least

Why on every post do people suggest that every shirt is a fake??!! From my experience of collecting player worn or issued shirts over the last few years this is a great shirt that is 100% real....

i\'m sure the numbers on the back were different ,the ones i remember were more rounder and had red inside them(like the liverpool numbers last season). The numbers on this e-bay shirt were from the first ever sharp electronics shirts in 82-83.

I read some of the comments on here and it makes me laugh how little some so called collectors on here know.
1. FAKE SHIRT! THEY ARE IN ALL OF THE MARKETS HERE!

The retro shirts on the market and ebay are clear fakes and look rubbish, and poorly resemble the real shirts. Unlike this one

2.I got a fake one like this for xmas.... the badge embroidery is quility but the material is very thin. The away shirt United had this season was there best away kit ever..../

These shirts are clear fakes the badge etc are all wrong. Unlike this one

3.i\'m sure the numbers on the back were different ,the ones i remember were more rounder and had red inside them(like the liverpool numbers last season). The numbers on this e-bay shirt were from the first ever sharp electronics shirts in 82-83.

This is slightly right but they used the 3 stripe number and the one on the 80 - 82 shirt all so in the 80 - 82 seasons. They used this number 80-86

From what I know, I would say this is 100% the real deal.
