These rare football boots where up for auction at Bonhams Sporting Memorabilia auction - CHESTER, 27 Feb 2008 Lot No: 286 Alan Ball's white boots Hummel white football boots with 2 black stripes, each boot signed to inside by Alan Ball. C.O.A. from Autographs of Legends. Footnote: World Cup winner Alan Ball was the first player to wear white boots, he heard a rumour that the boot manufacturer Hummel, were looking for a professional to wear their white boots and were prepared to pay £2,000. He agreed a deal with them and first showcased his distinctive white football boots in the Charity Shield at the beginning of the 1970/71 football season.Please note these boots are replicas and not match worn and the signatures inside the boots are printed not hand signed. These are the sales results of the football shirts auctioned at Bonhams Sporting Memorabilia auction - CHESTER, 27 Feb 2008 Lot No: 282 World Cup 1966 No.7 semi-final shirt Umbro white long-sleeved England shirt embroidered with three lions badge and red number 7 to rear. This shirt was believed to be worn by Alan Ball in the World Cup semi-final on 26th July 1966 v Portugal, Alan Ball informed the vendor that it was the semi-final shirt and the vendor has sworn an affadavit to that effect. Lot includes Alan Balls Everton wageslip from 24th January 1970 and a postcard sent from Englands Mexico 1970 training camp to the vendor by Alan Ball.

Especially for our Brazilian friends from Minhas Camisas , an interview about a football shirt collection of Atlético Mineiro on Radio Bandeirantes of São Paulo. Clube Atlético Mineiro was founded on March 25, 1908 by 22 middle-class boys from Belo Horizonte. The boys decided that the club's name would be Athletico Mineiro Foot Ball Club, and the kit would be a white shirt with a green horizontal strip on the chest. Soon after, they decided to change the kit to the black/white stripped shirt which is used nowadays.

With soccer's share of great teams, superb athletes, exceptional events, and its recent rise in popularity State-side, the American market for Soccer memorabilia has a bright future. Today American soccer collectors will spend up to $250 for a Freddy Adu signed ball and possibly up to $1,000 for a ball autographed by members of the 1999 U.S. Women’s World Cup winning team. Since the American market is still in its infancy though, American collectors would be wise to follow trends set across the pond.

Today, Christie's auction house auctioned around 140 match worn football shirts in South Kensington .The shirt worn by Pele in the First-Half of the 1970 World Cup Final, (Estimated at 50,000 - 80,000 British pounds) went up for auction again. The shirt worn by Mario Zagallo in the 1958 World Cup Final, and one worn by Mario Zagallo in the 1962 World Cup Final were estimated at 10,000 - 15,000 and 8,000 - 12,000 British pounds. Lot 0090 will show you a match worn Germany national team shirt made by Umbro, and Holland collectors can have a serious laugh at the holland home shirt from 1974 (Lot 0087) ...
