ALAN ROUGH shirt collection

Scotland Legend Alan Rough's collection of football shirts sold for £22,367 last week - more than double the expected amount.

All 42 items at the auction went for more than their top estimate as collectors from around the world bid.

The jersey England No1 Ray Clemence wore when he was nutmegged by Kenny Dalglish in 1976 sold for £980.

But it was a shirt worn by ex-Scotland skipper Billy Bremner which raked in the most - £1700.

A goalie jersey from Rough's Celtic days raised £1200. Rough, 58, who also played for Partick Thistle and Hibs and was capped 53 times, found the strips in his late dad Robert's attic.

They went under the hammer at Convery Auctions in Edinburgh. see all shirts up for auction here.
