euro 2012 adidas match ball design leaked

This seems to be the design for the new UEFA EURO 2012 match ball which will be officially unveiled on December 3.

“We will certainly make the ball (fly) faster and hopefully, we’ll see a lot of goals being scored at next year’s tournament in Poland and Ukraine,” Herbert Hainer told Reuters at a media briefing in Moscow last month.

The new Euro 2012 ball will undergo a “revolutionary development” compared to the famous Jabulani ball, which gave goalkeepers so much trouble at last year’s World Cup.

“As for Jabulani, we certainly underestimated high altitude, at which the tournament in South Africa was played,” Hainer said.

“As for the complaints from goalkeepers, as soon as the tournament started everyone was quiet because people were just enjoying watching the games. And in the Champions League we’ve seen no complaints at all.”

Hainer declined to unveil the name of the Euro 2012 ball, which will be officially presented at the draw ceremony for the finals in Kiev on Dec. 3, saying only that the ball will have a theme associated with both Poland and Ukraine.

I COMPLETELY agree. I mean I understand it being light with the boots and shin guards and kits; the ball it a completely different story however, since the keepers can't save or handle a ball that is too light, and there should be standards set for the ball weight.

Quoting bob:
You're dumb. There are ball weight standards.

sorry then, my God it's a mistake
then the standards should be altered in favor of the goalkeepers

The designs will probably be a lot less noticeable on the actual ball - it's 2 layers of screen printing one on top of the other, one very slightly lighter than the other. The Europass in 2008 was printed in the same way.

Are adidas reviving the old-skool "Tango" style of yesteryear? I hope so, the detailed black and white designs evoke fond memories of the "Etrusco" from Italia '90!

For me, the Tango was the best ball ever! Thanks to JJB now stocking replicas, one now has pride of place on a shelf at home!

I remember as a kid, my local sports shops would stock the bog standard Mitre Delta, which would set you back a tenner, but the adidas Tango was a whopping 50 quid!!!

If memory serves me correctly, the Tango base design lasted from the '78 World Cup, all the way through to France '98. The Mexico '86 "Aztec" was probably my favourite.

This new design definitely looks like throw back to the Tango, much better than many of their recent efforts, although I do like the Champions League design....

cant help but think theres some sort of blatant subliminal message in here still i hope adidas fixed this ball the jubilani was utter crap. and as for this design i dont like it. it looks to aztecy for me. also kind of reminds me of the 1998 world cup ball.

no racism inteded with my comment toward it being aztec. what i meant to say is that the ball design looks aztec in the sense that it belongs in the mexico world cup we had this year, i dont know how this design reflects polish and urkranian culture

That's because you're ignorant of Polish and Ukranian culture.

It's the return of the Tango design!!!!

...in a somewhat different way, but its a welcome return. No ball made before or since could match the Tango! The Telstar comes close but the Italia '90 Etrusco Unico, IMO was the greatest ball ever! Followed by the Terrestra Silversteam (Euro 2000).

I loved the Fevernova but only because it was different.

ITS just terrible, overly fussy and complcated, adidas clearly dont like clean design, also its just a move on of the jabulani ball, so seems like theyre running out of ideas...nothing radical...pretty boring actually

What?! Cant we just have one tournament with a bog-standard ball and just play some normal football? Even if the ball doesn't fly as fast as they say, all we're gonna hear form loosing teams is "we lost because of the ball". Argh!!!!!

just should play with a leather ball instead of these light crap it are it should be a ball suited to everyone on the pitch which will make it a better tournament

not bad!

would have preferred something totally different, and based on the pic above, seems like a lot more white space than the old tango and the like, but will probably grow on us between now and june!
