the difference is that the jabulani ball was played at home for teams sponsored by adidas only, this is an official bundesliga ball which will be used in all league games, just like the premierleague, serie a and la liga with the nike balls.

"Torfabrik" ("Goal Material")
that's not an accurate translation.

Torfabrik literally means "Factory for goals". A Player or Team which scores goals regularly and with ease is called Torfabrik.

I guess it helps give their league some identity, every other major league has their personalised ball and it's about time that the Bundesliga do too.

The "big step forward" stuff is a bit much though

bayern's colours are red and white and the bundesliga colours are more or less white/red/black, that's why the ball looks like the way it does

if u look at the bundesliga logo the colors are red and white that is why the ball is red and white. it would have benn different if they put blue and white checkers on the ball .

Oh, this is great news. There's been way too much scoring in the Bundesliga recently. Hopefully all domestic leagues will adopt this ball so football around the world can be just like this world cup has been.

All the people here complaining about the Jabulani are just ridiculous. I'm sure no one of you has ever played with the original ball. So I guess you're in the position to criticize it...

none the less I think "Torfabrik" is ugly.

When will they stop messing around with the design of a football? It should be round, white in colour and a regulation size 5- no nonsense!

In fact its exactly the jabulani in a different color, this was known since february or march, but i dont know why everyones rageing? The Primera Division, Premir League and Seria A balls all are the same in a different color... If nike would made the wc-ball they would do the same for this three leagues.

But i dont think that they will keep the jabulani until the next wc. The cl-ball isnt the same since wc 2006 and i think the leagueball for the bl will change as a color-variation of the cl-ball.

Btw, Bayern Munich colors are red and white, they changed the colors in 2001 or 2002 or so... but i wont seek a conspiracy there

bundesliga makes the most money out of any league in europe and has the biggest crowds. so are you also calling the champions league a minor league because it used a adidas ball?

I don#t understand the critics about the ball.
Jabulani is used since December in the Bundesliga. No Goalkeeper or Forward said that this Goal was due to the miserable ball nor his unstable flight.
can someone remember 2006 the Problems with Teamgeist? or 2004 with Roteiro even 2002 Fevernova?
Everytime the same and after the Tournament it was the official Matchball in all UEFAcups an noeone was saying aNYTHING

It was open and transparent to all German ball manufacturers beginning with A. Adidas just pipped Aadvark sports to the deal apparently
Or is it because this ball was rounder than anyother really round ball ever made
