Nike Maxim 2012/13 Match Ball

The new Nike Maxim ball, which is available here, features design and performance innovation that offer great responsiveness, touch and stable ball flight for accurate passing and striking.

Fittingly, the world’s best football is featured in Nike’s new “My Time is Now” campaign which features a global roster of the world’s best players, and celebrates the hunger and impatience of young players ready to tear up the rule book to make their mark in football’s elite ranks.

Set to be used in Serie A and La Liga as well as the Premier League, the Nike Maxim features Nike RaDaR (Rapid Decision and Response) technology that is a lab and field-tested standard of visual performance. The technology allows players to see the ball better and capitalize on split second scoring and passing opportunities. The bold geometric graphic generates strong visual power with crisp edges for players to pick up on during play. Optimal use of bright colors and sharp contrast allows the ball to be more visible in the stadium and pitch environment.

To maximize performance on receiving and distribution a five layer construction guarantee optimal first touch while a 360 sweet spot allow consistent response off the foot. The Geo II Balanced Technology -- an aerodynamic textured casing -- delivers accurate and powerful strike, no matter where you hit the ball.

-PU with micro-grooves: textured casing that stabilizes ball flight to increase accuracy and efficiency.
-Flexible nitrogen-expanded foam gives superior touch and consistent feel in all weather conditions.
-Responsive rubber stores energy from impact and releases it at launch for power and speed.
-A layer of polyester support fabric enhances the structure and stability of the ball for durability.
-The fifth layer is the bladder made in six-wing carbon-latex air chamber that provides explosive acceleration off the foot and superior air retention.

adidas tango 12 is way better than this. i wished that tango would use as official match ball. tango is a perfect reinterpretation of old classic match balls.

I'm sorry but Adidas is horrible with footballs. We have seen the teamgeist the jubalani suck hard. Tango has seen its controversy as well. The only people that speak well of those ostritch eggs are paid Adidas spokesperson. If the tango were better the worlds top three leagues wouldn't be using the Nike footballs

The original Tango kind of design was amazing, up till Euro 2000.
The Europass/Teamgeist/Jubalani/CLstar/Roteiro/Terranova balls are all HIDEOUS.

Seems that way. Perhaps an acknowledgement from Nike that those two are the only teams capable of winning the so-called "best league in the world". Christ, and people say the Spanish league is a boring.

The UEFA CL star ball looks cheap and tacky. Plus they sell cheap plastic crap versions in horrible flouro colours. Its gross, it has no class.

very unique (let's scribble everywhere, yet make it look pretty decent) design. Big ups to nike for making this. They keep producing top notch balls for the premier league, la liga, and serie a....

Shame about most of their kits though....(barca especially)

9/10...

The Adidas balls look nicer (not so cluttered with design) but the Nike ball flies better and has some give to it. Adidas is like a rock.

Is the graphic designer who created this the same one who designed the London 2012 logo? Just seems similar.

You can still buy those on Prodirectsoccer. Bit expensive though... I used to have the Prem League version when I was at school!
These days everything's got to look tacky as hell, with horrible plastic and bright colours...
