Adidas aims to sell 1 million German national team shirts during the European football championship "Euro 2008" to be held in Switzerland and Austria, chief executive Herbert Hainer said.

The company in 2006 sold 1.5 million shirts, which sell at a retail price of 69.95 euros each, when the World Cup 2006 tournament was held in Germany.

Adidas pays some 20 million euros to the German League as part of a contract to sponsor Germany's national team.

In addition, the sporting goods maker pays the league a percentage of proceeds from football shirts sold, Hainer said.
