adidas adizero f50 miCoach football boots

Adidas unveils the intelligent football boot, the adizero f50 powered by miCoach. Soon to be made famous as the ground breaking 'football boot with a brain', the 2011 adizero f50 is bringing smart technology to the field of play.

Football is faster than ever before and the need for speed has never been greater. miCoach turns the adizero f50 into the ultimate digital training tool by letting you track and upload performance data including speed, maximum speed, number of sprints, distance, distance at high intensity levels and time.

The adizero f50 boot includes a cavity in the outsole unit which houses the revolutionary miCoach SPEED_CELL™, capturing 360° movement and measuring key performance metrics including speed, average speed (recorded every second), maximum speed (recorded every five seconds), number of sprints, distance, distance at high intensity levels, steps and stride rates.

The on-board memory stores all your measurements during your game or training for up to seven hours and then wirelessly transmits the on pitch performance data to your tablet, PC or MAC. Available material includes stills of the boot, Lionel Messi, miCoach SPEED_CELL™, Sprintframe technology as well as beauty shots of the adizero f50 miCoach.

For all the Fenerbahce supporters , the ones which prefer Burger King or just the ones who wanna keep their boots.

BeMeister releases an insole in November that captures the same data than the adizero boot. What I read about it, you can even check out your stats live on a watch.

like the idea but it seems to add extra bulk to the outsole which can probably be uncomfotable and could throw off balance.also i assume any hard knocks to the boot and you can say bye bye to your mi coach. but overall i like the idea and something Nike should have capitalized on with their version of Nike + i think its whats its called.

innovation i give 7/10

design aspect i give 5/10

How on earth did Johan Cruyff, Diego Maradona and George Best cope without such technology?

Easy - with their brains. Not some namby-pamby composite materials with a computer in their shoes.

Quoting Gazhorn:

The thing is though, they weren't paid as much as players are now. If some bloke is on 300k a week, and the computer in his boots says he's not running very fast, or the little chip in the Under Armor shirt he's wearing say's he's only running at 40-50% of what he could be (i.e not trying as hard as he should be), and all of this is during a match, I think it has it's benefits. Or do you think it's acceptable to be ignorant of that, especially when he's not playing that well? Methinks it's a good tool to have when discussing that next contract, if all the readings say the player never tries his best or runs his hardest do you think he's going to be successful in getting an extra 25-30 thousand a week that he and his agent are asking for?

The chip/computer in the boots is just a training tool in letting people know how fast they are, how long they can run at their peak speed, etc... All valuable bits of knowledge, especially in this day and age. It's not changing how the actual game is played.

they put this technology on a boot before putting goal line technology in???
Sepp Blatter - "yeah we don't know if its an actual goal or not, but those are some pretty spiffy boots!"
