Amongst the sea of blue and white flags and the swirling scarves, ears still ring from the terraces singing AR-GEN-TINA…AR-GEN-TINA…AR-GEN-TINA!!! Borne in 1978 , in recognition of 10 PUMA players who helped steer Argentina to World Cup victory. From a country so synonyms with footballing glory, a legacy inspired this cult classic and etched itself into terrace history. Originally built as a lightweight court shoe, aptly accented with the national colours of the Argentinean flag - blue and white, the Argentina’s simple pattern and low profile was lovingly adopted by UK terrace fans throughout the dominance of the English teams in European football. This spring, Puma is set to continue its love affair of African Football with a unique twist, by launching the celebratory ‘African Cup of Nations pack’.

As part of a long standing history with the Olympics , adidas has instituted The Original Games. Since 1928, adidas has been at every single Olympics, this collection celebrates not only one of the greatest sporting events in the world but also some of the most memorable moments in Olympic sporting history. One day in 1925 Adolf (Adi) Dassler designed a pair of sports shoes; thereafter he began to study the science behind kinetics and footwear. By 1931 he and his brother Rudolph were selling special shoes for tennis players, and they soon began to design specific shoes for the needs of specific sports.

I think most of us love the vintage 70's and 80's Adidas Trefoil and maybe even want it back on the shirts. You can now make your own Christmas cookies in the shape of adidas' Trefoils while dreaming away thinking about the good old days. The cookie cutters were created with adidas' founder Adi Dassler's parents in mind. Apparently the Dassler parents originally wanted their son to be a baker rather then create world's biggest football brand. Well, I guess that’s just the way the cookie crumbles.

To help raise awareness of peace one day , PUMA played a key role at a major gala event at London’s Royal Albert Hall where PUMA announced its long-term partnership with the organization.
Jochen Zeitz, CEO and Chairman: "We support the aim of Peace One Day and want to make a contribution to the generation of global peace on one day. Within our commitment, we will develop a special charity football collection, available in 2008. We are delighted to be a strong and long-term partner of this exemplary initiative."

Lumalive is a photonic textile, which uses cloth as a lighted graphic display medium. Developed by Philips Research Technologies, Lumalive integrates a flexible array of miniature coloured light-emitting diodes into a piece of cloth, which allows the cloth to display graphics, text, and animation. Philips first unveiled a prototype of Lumalive at IFA 2005, and at IFA 2006, Philips demonstrated production-ready Lumalive as promotional clothing and upholstery. Although not commercially available yet, Philips is currently offering the textile to business partners for promotional purposes.

"Fashion has played a major part in the elevation of footballers to iconic status in modern society. Whether it be George Best's famous clothes shop, Alan Hudson's haircut or David Beckham's unique dress sense, the worlds of fashion and football have often intertwined. In From Best To Beckham, this relationship is brilliantly brought to life for the very first time. Entertaining and informative, the journey starts with the abolition of the maximum wage in the early 60's and focuses on key names, including George Best and Bobby Moore. There are new interviews with 70's footballers such as Steve Perryman, Alan Hudson and Mike Summerbee, as well as with a wider range of famous names, like the tailor Dougie Hayward, who designed Bobby Moores suits. As well as documenting this unique history, the authors also talk to players such as Millwall's Darren Ward and examine in depth the huge impact that England captain David Beckham has had on his contemporaries. The book does not just focus on the players, however, It also charts the many influential street fashions that emanated from the terraces over the years, notably the widespread popularity of the Skinhead in the late '60's and the birth of the Casual in the mid-70's. To that end, the authors have unearthed many fascinating testimonies from fans of all persuasions, including the singer Kevin Rowland, the writer Irvine Welsh and members of Cardiff's notorious Soul Crew. From Best to Beckham is a unique book: an amalgamation of history and entertainment mixed into one riveting read. It is brought to life by photographs taken by the great Terry O'Neill, one of the first lensman to spot and celebrate this remarkable relationship."
