New Swindon Town shirts too small for supporter 2 Years, 10 Months ago
A SWINDON Town fan is outraged that the team’s new kit doesn’t fit.

Terry Poole has been a season ticket holder since he was 13 and has always sported the team’s shirt with pride.

But when he went to buy the latest strip he found the sizes only go up to xxl, two sizes too small for the 26-year-old.

A Swindon Town spokesman said the team was in negotiations with new shirt supplier Adidas to produce bigger shirts for next season.

But Terry, of Churchward Avenue, Rodbourne Cheney, is angry that the club is not catering for its larger fans in 2009/10.

He said: “I didn’t think I’d have any problem at all because the sizes always went up to xxxxl before.

“I wasn’t happy when I found out – they should have known that they have fans who want larger sizes.

“The team is always asking you to show your support – well, I do that by wearing my shirt at the matches. Now I will have to wear last season’s kit.

“They said it was a problem with Adidas but when I went to Newcastle’s ground last year I saw shirts that were xxxxl. Peterborough also have that size and they are Adidas as well. If they can make xxxxl for those two teams why not Swindon?”

Swindon signed a three-year deal with Adidas in June, replacing previous supplier Lotto. They will be sponsored by global gaming brand EA Sports and football magazine FourFourTwo.

Terry, who works as a printer, said despite the setback nothing would keep him away from the County Ground.

He said: “I’ve already picked up my season ticket for next year so I will be there but I suppose I will be in last year’s kit. I’m not happy with the club about this but it’s not going to stop me supporting them.”

Swindon Town media manager Chris Tanner said: “We are talking to Adidas about the situation and about whether we can get larger shirts. We are in the situation where we are dealt a hand by Adidas and that is what we have to work with.

“We are probably looking at next season to get larger shirts but we will have to talk to Adidas about that.”

The shirts cost £35 each, with shorts costing £18 and socks £8. Children’s shirts cost £30 with shorts sold at £18 and socks £8.

The new kit will officially go on sale on Saturday, July 25, at the home friendly with Cardiff City.
