Glentoran to wear charity on shirt for LIVE Sky sports game 3 Years, 1 Month ago

Following discussions between the Glentoran management and club sponsor, fonaCAB, it has been agreed that the team will sport the website of new charity, Struggle Against Muscular Dystrophy (S.A.M), on their strip for the pivotal Good Friday match against Linfield.

S.A.M was set up a little under one year ago when Hillsborough tot, Sam McCausland, was tragically diagnosed with Congenital Muscular Dystrophy. There is currently no treatment or cure for this devastating muscle wasting disease, which causes scoliosis and painful muscle contractures, eventually leading to complete loss of muscle function , ultimately rendering children incapable of breathing and eating without assistance. S.A.M. is unique in that it is a ‘zero cost’ charity as everyone involved gives freely of their time, expertise, products and services in order that every penny raised can go directly towards research into Muscular Dystrophy.

Following the game the actual match shirts worn by the players will be auctioned on the website to help raise funds for the charity.

The squad list has yet to be finalised, but bidding is now open on the www.pleasefixsam.com site.
