SPL name and number question 9 Months, 2 Weeks ago

Hi everyone. Can I ask if anyone can tell me at what point did the Scottish Premier League introduce name and numbers for shirts rather than just numbers? Was this also the case if a Scottish club was playing in a European competition e.g Champions League, Uefa or old Cup Winners Cup, or were these clubs using plaer names on shirts earlier in Europe, if you see what I am saying? e.g when Di Canio was at Celtic in 96 was his name on the back of the shirt in the league or just his number, and did this then change for Uefa Cup matches that season? Hope this makes sense!
Thanks Dan

Dan,
Squad numbers were introduced in the SPL at the start of the 1998/1999 season if I remember correctly.
Also, I'm not 100% sure, but I think Scottish clubs just had numbers on the back of their shirts in European campaigns prior to then, but I may be wrong.
Hope that helps.
