What exactly is considered fake?did i buy some sh*** on ebay again? would you want this? 3 Years, 3 Months ago Karma: 0
I'm quite in a bind. While mildly interested in football, i dont have any clue about collecting jerseys. now im gonna visit my cousin soon and i wanted to fulfill his wish that he kept asking me about for years now: A home shirt from manu 96-97 with the no 7 on the back... sheesh

So ive been doing my homework, crawling forums and asking all my friends to get a picture what i got myself into. I understand that mentioned shirt will be impossible to come by as match-worn. What I still dont quite understand is the thing about fan merchandise: Can you buy an original/certified fan shirt every season with or without your favourite player/number flocked onto? or is this flocking optional and only done individually? what are these 'fan kits'and how do i get one of those? what is 'fake' and what is 'real'? are replicas fake or are replicas original merchandise with badges and or flocking done individually? im bidding on two ebay auctions right now, still in the lead and i do need this for my cousin soon.

update: ive won an auction, what do you think of this?

first five photos are from the shirt ive won, last two with white background is still running. please do browse the gallery

my question: is this authentic or at least something a fan would want or did i buy some sh*** on ebay again? pics are bad but i noticed on the 2nd auction that the flockings on the back miss the black background the first one has. looks a little dull to me, but again im not an expert. could it be that flocking is done individually anyways? does the first one look like the original? what did i miss?

thank you all folks

While the shirt ive won now was sold by a guy (private auction) from Hong Kong. Strange thins is, hes got 250 ratings, 248 of them as buyer of used football jerseys in the last 12 months and two as a seller in the last month..

he didnt mention anywhere in his description that it is original whereas in the second auction they assure you in big letters that it is 100% original, but refused to send me detailed pictures

1. lettering: is it because of the size of the number and the distances and arc of the letters?

2. duh where do i get a 'genuine' one? there are shops on the internet and also ebay shops claiming to sell the real thing for a high price. but i doubt that its any different than with the thing above...

edit: lettering looks good to me compared to this image, where's the catch?

Hi i am a keen collector of united football shirts , what tends to happen is ebayers from china tend to buy the utd shirts from England for next to nothing - the shirt in the picture is without looking at front labels etc is official Man Utd shirt - you can pick this shirt up for under £10.00

Then they will put Fake lettering names etc , pass them off as match worn , with patches
you wash them and the lettering falls off...But charge you £60.00 for this type of shirt!

My advice bid and buy the shirt you want without the lettering , you will win it cheaper

then go to Wiggy sports ( google it) they do the official lettering for retro shirts - Man utd

you can all this done for under £20.00 - Save yourself some money

Hope this helps
