Chicago Fire unveil new jersey sponsor ' Best Buy ' E-mail

Best Buy Co. has signed on to be the first jersey sponsor for the Chicago Fire, a deal that could inject millions to the unprofitable soccer team.

The Chicago Fire will have a new look for the 2008 season. The players will be sporting a new jersey sponsored by Best Buy. The two organizations recently completed a three-year, multi-million dollar deal announced on Tuesday afternoon.

"This is huge," Fire defender C.J. Brown said. "When I started with the Fire our sponsors were league sponsors. This is another big step in the right direction for the league and also for the Fire. You're in good company when you have Best Buy in your corner."

Adidas and A.C. Milan today announced the extension of their sponsorship deal until the end of 2017. Under the new agreement adidas will also design, produce, distribute and promote a wide range of non-sport related A.C. Milan merchandising articles.

According to the Corriere dello Sport the contract with the giant German sports manufacturer will earn the Rossoneri €10.5m a season, meaning that between now and 2017 the club will receive €105m.

Corriere dello Sport says Inter Milan are on the verge of an 140 million Euro-plus kit agreement with Nike. The club's contract with Nike, which previously ran until 30 June 2009, was worth around 9 million euros a season.

The next one will run ten years, and it will be worth more than any other contract ever agreed between the American sports brand and a football club (not counting the Brazilian national team).

U.S. sportswear giant Nike extended its contract with the Korean Football Association (KFA) Tuesday, signing a four-year, 25 billion won ($27 million) deal for the rights to supply the national football team's uniforms.

Under the new contract, which goes into effect next year, Nike will also provide 24 billion won worth in sporting products and allow national team players to use cleats from other brands, the KFA said. Nike had paid the KFA a total of 15 billion won ($16.3 million) for a five-year contract that expires on Dec. 31.

AEGON will be the new head sponsor of AFC Ajax from 1 July 2008. The sponsorship deal between Ajax and AEGON has been laid down for a period of 7 years, in which an annual sponsorship amount of maximally 12 million euro will be paid.

This amount consists of a fixed component of 10 million euro and a variable part of 2 million euro. Furtherrmore, as an affirmation of the launch as head sponsor, another 1.5 million is added, divided over the first three years. The total sponsorship amount can add up to 85.5 million euro, minus VAT. AEGON will have a prominent place on the official match kits of all Ajax teams from next season.
