Arsenal looking to renegotiate their sponsorship deal

E-mail

arsenal-emirates.jpgWe've heard some rumours last year, but according to The Mirror, Arsenal are looking to renegotiate their sponsorship deal. The Gunners still feel they have sold themselves short with their £5million-a-year deal which has six years left to run.

This sponsorship deal is dwarfed by Manchester United's four-year contract - worth over £20m a season - with Aon, who will replace insurance giant AIG from the beginning of next 10/11 season.

Manchester United's deal is also matched by Liverpool who will have Standard Chartered Bank paying to appear on the players' shirts from next 10/11 season.

Chelsea's sponsorship deal with electrical giants Samsung is worth around £60m over five years. The Blues paid Umbro £24m to get out of their kit contract and sign a new deal with Adidas before signing the Samsung shirt sponsorship deal.

Should Arsenal succeed in their search for a new sponsor, they could use some of the cash to buy out their Emirates deal.

The Mirror also reports that some experts believe Emirates may be open to negotiations after its owners reported a slump in profits in the year to April.

Arsenals sponsorship deal was considered one of the best a couple of years ago, as the deal was for the rights to the Stadium name aswell as the shirt. Interesting to see how that all gets renegotiated.
