AS Roma Annnounce Nike Kit Deal

AS Roma and Nike announced a new partnership for Nike to become the club's official apparel and equipment sponsor. The 10-year agreement will begin at the start of the 2014-15 season. Nike will produce all on-pitch and training product, from the first team to the youth teams, as well as off-pitch product for the players and fans.

AS Roma will wear an unbranded kit next season after dropping current supplier Kappa in a legal dispute over alleged quality and distribution issues.

"We're proud to partner with AS Roma, a club with great heritage," said Bert Hoyt, VP/GM of Nike Western Europe. “It’s a club that embodies strong characteristics, is recognized across the world and represents one of Europe's greatest cities. We look forward to developing a successful long-term partnership with them."

Italo Zanzi, CEO of AS Roma adds, "AS Roma is committed to becoming the premier football club in the world, on and off the field. This partnership is a fundamental step in that mission. Nike's dedication to football excellence and global brand building is aligned perfectly with our objectives. We are extremely excited about our future together."

The influence of the US owners is finally felt. Unbranded next year will be interesting.

Nike Puma and Adidas are running football now...

Not that it's a problem, I just don't paticually rate them as highly as everyone else does. Then again Kappa were awful! I liked Roma's Diadora kits, and with Diadora coming back into football I'd have liked to have seen them donning that again!

Hope their kits are nice, always liked Roma's kits.

This could be a bad move, Nike are so boring at times.

What does unbranded mean, someone will have to make it. Will it still be available for purchase I wonder. I would've preferred Macron, Warrior or even Under armour is very much AS R STYLE. But Nike is not a bad choice, they'll get more money at least.

don't worry about that u might see the kit as one of the club's products together with apparel wear and accessories.. and the brand will be AS Roma,,

Too bad Kappa was dropped. ASR was one of the few bigger clubs still using the smaller Italian manufacturers like Kappa and Diadora. I really enjoyed Kappa, both the 2010 shirts and when they were the sponsor in 2000 - 2003.

Bad move. Should have gone with Adidas. their clasic 80's kits are second to non.

Nike represents the main american idea...MONOPOLY!!
Nike has made a great table cloth for MAN UTD and i expect a great towel to AS Roma
I believe in the next few years we will see all the teams (except for Germany and FC Bayern for national reasons only) will be wearing Nike...same kit ...different colour (just see France Kit and u will c England next kit)
But i have to admit...Nike is better than the other manfacturer...in socks!!! best socks i have ever bought were Nike...
