FC Barcelona and Qatar Sports Investments announce that they have agreed, under the terms of their contract, that Qatar Airways will appear on the Club shirt from the 2013-2014 season as the new main shirt sponsor.
The contract signed by Qatar Sports Investment and FC Barcelona foresaw the possibility of including a new sponsor on the team shirt from the third season of the agreement.
Meanwhile, Qatar Sports Investments, in agreement with FC Barcelona, has designated Qatar Foundation as the Official Human Development Partner of FC Barcelona, which will allow the promotion of initiatives based on their shared values to continue.
Sandro Rosell, president of FC Barcelona, has welcomed Qatar Airways as, “an ambitious brand with global aspirations, always committed to achieving the utmost excellence in its field. These are objectives with which FC Barcelona fully identifies.”
The contract signed with QSI permits the possibility of including a new logo on the shirt from the third season of the agreement, as the club reported to the Assembly of Representatives in September 2011. The inclusion of sponsorship on the shirt was agreed at the Assembly of Representatives in August 2003.
Rosell also stressed that “after sharing two fantastic years with Qatar Foundation, we are delighted to be continuing our relationship by welcoming them as our official Human Development Partner.”
Akbar Al Baker, CEO of Qatar Airways, said, “We are delighted to form this alliance with FC Barcelona, the biggest football club in the world. Qatar Airways has been voted Best Airline in the World for two consecutive years (2011 and 2012) and will work with FC Barcelona on activities of benefit both to fans and passengers, offering tangible rewards to both organisations.”
A Qatar Foundation spokesperson added that “when we started this fantastic journey with FC Barcelona, our objective was to work closely with the club, the team and the supporters to promote awareness of Qatar Foundation on an international scale. This has been a huge success. In fact, the first two years of the collaboration have surpassed our expectations and we are looking to deepen and strengthen our relationship with FC Barcelona and its supporters around the world in our continued role as a proud partner of the club.”
Qatar Sports Investments, Qatar Airways and Qatar Foundation are united in their commitment to the success of FC Barcelona.

Qatar Everywhere
Qatar is mega rich anyway, you know, what with all the oil they're sitting on?
Barcelona shirts with a sponsor on the front look plain wrong anyway, be it a profitable or non-profitable organisation. Bring back the unsponsored Kappa shirts of the mid 90s.
Zactly.
so what...stupid douche!
strange when rosell critics how laporta's relationship with Uzbek while they also have relationship with qatari
I knew when they introduced UNICEF that it will end in a massive deal 1-2years later. It´s all about money and this pretty likeable club (past) is becoming pretty awful nowadays.
Honestly, can you lot please promise me you'll never run a business? Too many naive internet users.
But if you say you are MORE THAN A CLUB, than you should forget about the standard "sell everything even names etc." procedures. Of course we know how business is working but there is a thin red line between a football club and its tradition and a standard business selling wahtever.
In terms of football there is also the myth, aura, reputation call it what you like. Once lost, you´ll never get that back.
It is not about making money at all cost. IF you are willing to get a huge return of investment football is no good solution. Does this need another proof or can we agree on that.
Football is more than business and that is not naive. Otherwise people would not buy season tickets for clubs that never win anything in their whole life
It's all aboot the money, honey. Newcastle's new owners put their own stamp on the stadium. Fans still go.
Complaints/principles don't change balance sheets.
Well, it seems that these arguments are basicially the same but serve both contrary point of views. I think a total sellout should be avoided and football is NOT an investment but something different.
It is not the end of the world for Barca nor for me, but it is one-after-one getting football in the wrong direction. And at the end of the way we complain about World Cups hosted in Quatar and not in England, and players earnign more money in a week than average joe in a year.
Some might think football is slowely undermining its own bases and fundaments...let us see when people have enough and they went too far.
I am in the position to be fan of a rather smaller club, hardly anybody cares about who is not in this world of exorbitance.
So I am just glancing at it with interest....
Cool.
Grow up.
So?
yeah it's called "Technical Sponsorship" there are suppliers to the team: TV3 = Barca tv , Nike = uniforms, marketing, etc...
NOT a business( Money making interest on announcement in the shirt ) like qatar airways... you stupid censoredtard...
Yes it is. Always has been. Smell the coffee.
