Blackburn Rovers has confirmed a new partnership that will see the club’s kit sponsorship move from Umbro to the Nike brand from the start of the 2013-14 season.
The Umbro sponsorship, which has been in place since 2007, will continue to the end of the current 2012-13 season, after which all kit, training wear and related products will be designed, manufactured and distributed by Nike until 2016.

The sports giant will be the official and recognised technical partner on all of Rovers’ replica kits, which will go on sale later this summer.
Greg Coar, Rovers’ Head of Commercial and Marketing, said: “We are delighted to confirm that Rovers are set to start a new partnership with Nike. We are certain that our supporters will be excited by this new partnership and will be looking forward to seeing the iconic blue-and-white halves and the world famous Nike brand on our kits this summer.”
Gareth Hosford, GM Nike UK Football, said: “We are delighted to add Blackburn Rovers to the Nike football family. We look forward to building on the successful partnership the club has already enjoyed with Umbro and working closely with the club and the fans over the coming seasons.”

Blackburn's kit hasn't really changed in decades so I don't think it will be an issue.
why dont you settle for knowing that Nike will be at the forefront of technology, and embossed into nearly every club in the english league. Adidas, however, will become more of prestige/retro supplier. adidas has the history, nike has the money.
the teams with the history, I think will be bestowed on the likes of real madrid, ac milan, liverpool, bayern, ajax, and river plate because of what, historically, those clubs have achieved.
I'm not against Nike doing generic shit,. means that adidas and Puma alike can do the cool stuff and use this as an opportunity to enhance their own agenda and aesthetic.
This is what adidas is all about:

Boom
Yes, those are the only teams with history. Ridiculous.
I totally agree. I mean the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal, Juventus, Barcelona and Celtic have no history when you compare them to the likes of Chelsea and Anzhi Makhachkala! Adidas would never tow the corporate line and put their iconic stripes on the shirts of the nouveau rich and filthy scrapers like Stoke City and Derby County!
Nike OWN Umbro and have decided to bin it which is a real shame as I've loved the stuff Umbro have put out in the last 3/4 seasons (under management of Nike) and apparently Nike are looking at brands such as Under Armour to add to their roster, Umbro will probably be bought by big fat Mike Ashley and go to the graveyard that is Sports Direct.
Agree NIKE = tech/corp ADIDAS = Heritage
if it won't be a generic kit (what i think it's likely) i think will good to see Blackburn with a swoosh on the chest, btw.
