Borussia Dortmund and Nike's kit sponsorship deal will end after the last match of the 08/09 season.

Who will become the 2009/10 kit manufacturer is one of the best-kept secrets at Borussia Dortmund. According to German media, there are two candidates: the local German brand Puma and the Italian brand Kappa.

"The negotiations went very smoothly and in a few weeks we will present an agreement" said Watzke, general manager Borussia Dortmund.

Puma seems to be the best candidate. The company from Herzogenaurach already equips VfB Stuttgart and Autumn Champion TSG Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga. And Puma and Borussia already been having loose talks over the last year.

Nike has proposed that Umbro takes over the kit deal, but this has not been approved, so Nike and Dortmund's kit deal will come to an end in the summer of 2009.

The new 09/10 kit and equipment manufacturer will be presented in Borussia's training camp in Marbella, were Borussia will be preparing under the Spanish sun from January 9 to January 17 2009.

An end of an era it is FDV. I\'d like to see Umbro\'s ideas for a kit though. Any fantasy kit designers want to have a go at that?

adidas and Puma would be a likely kit maker for borussia Dortmund but with the more and more \"new\" football sport manufacturers in the Bundesliga like Under Armour and those \"Do You Football\" Kits that I just heard of, I think some other club could go for it.

Other companies could also be the kit maker for Dortmund like canterbury, Diadora, reebok etc.

Well, one reason I became a BVB fan in Germany was the cool Nike designs of the early 90´s. I have one for the 97-98 season (in which they won the Intercontinental Cup), which was not that graphic-rich, but a tremendous kit. The second encarnation (after that goool.de thing) was very boring, already in that template kit era, I really disliked most of the kits. I´d really like to see BVB back in adidas (the 90 Pokal win shirt is a beauty), or Puma, either way, it´s the 100-year season, they MUST bring something special.

Exactly! It doesn\'t matter which brand will deliver the new kit as long as they don\'t publish four to six jerseys per season (home, away, 3rd, xmas, cup-final, etc.).
This was only one of the reasons why I liked the goool-era so much. It\'s so sad that this project was more or less doomed to fail...

B. Dortmund, Arsenal and Paris Saint Germain was the first teams to wear nike kits. I think that nike wants to transfer all of his support to another german club like Werder Bremen.
