With the start of the 2009/2010 season, KAPPA will be Borussia Dortmund´s new official kit sponsor who take over the kit manufacturing deal from Nike. The international sports brand with Italian roots will equip the Black and Yellow´s Bundesliga team with top-quality sports gear.

BVB´s amateur and youth teams will also wear the outfit with the famous brand name. The comprehensive cooperation, negotiated by SPORTFIVE, will initially go for three years and will also include various advertising services like advertising boards, allocation of VIP tickets as well as other B2B services.

"With Borussia Dortmund we will equip one of the biggest traditional clubs of the league with an incredibly impressive fan base," said Peter Schmidt, owner and CEO of Kappa Deutschland GmbH. "If you´ve once in your life been at a BVB game, you know all about football passion, how it sounds and feels. We are looking forward to this enthusiasm and our new partner."

BVB chairman Hans-Joachim Watzke about the new supplier deal. "KAPPA stands for modern design and a dynamic sport. These are values that we here at BVB also regard highly. Both sides will benefit from this cooperation, because both have high goals in the next years which only can be accomplished in a strong alliance."

Carsten Cramer, Vice President Marketing & Sales with SPORTFIVE. "It´s a big success that we have brought these brands together. Because BVB with their young and ambitious coach and this equally young team will be the ideal vehicle for the public image of the brand. They match very well and we are convinced that the cooperation will be a successful one."

Since the founding of the sport brand in 1967 in Italy, KAPPA have over and over again succeeded in setting new visual standards in football. Champions League sides like Werder Bremen and Roma as well as international top teams such as Feyenoord Rotterdam, Betis Seville, Sampdoria, Partizan Belgrade, FC Nantes and FC Copenhagen all trust KAPPA´s design.

NIKE seem to be losing out in Gemany at present .......Could it be that they have been so complacent with their non designs and that clubs actually want a company that makes the effort. I also know that a premiership club who currently wear NIKE are in the process of signing up with another smaller but more innovative brand. I\'d like to see what KAPPA come up with and perhaps they should make the logos a bit smaller too.

Compared to Nike\'s current crop of kits yeah Kappa are a lot better, but Kappa do tend to recycle a lot of their styles, but when they do produce something new it is usually good. I just hope Kappa don\'t resort to spinning their wheel of styles for Dortmund.

NIKE actually made a good move, they switched to WERDER BREMEN who at least play international competitions, it\'s been a long while since the last time BVB had a good campaign... so why sticking with a team that can\'t win any title nor make a good campaign..

and by the way kappa sucks, their designs aren\'t that bad, but the quality is krapp

maybe it is not importnant where the team is playing, but how much revenue a team can make with selling stuff to the fans. Dortmund, playing good or bad, are one of the big teams in selling, having an average of 77.000 people in the stadium. As for Nike, their designs over the last seasons has been poor, for most of the teams. And Bremen is not palying CL or Europa Cup either this year.

I like Kappa shirts, but they are way too much sponsored - I feel that Nike is the only one who still doesn\'t have the sponsors on the sleeves, and their shirts look simple and clear. Hopefully Nike sponsors my Juventus! I hope that they will sponsor soon Italy again...
