Carling to end Old Firm sponsor deal

E-mail

According to the Dailymail, Brewers Carling are close to ending their multi-million pound shirt sponsorship of the Old Firm when their current contract concludes next season.

Should Carling's decide to end the 7-year association, it would end a long run of dual sponsorship for the Glasgow giants. NTL preceded Carling as joint shirt sponsors.

Carling's parent company, Coors, signed an £18 million deal with the Old Firm in the summer of 2005 worth an estimated £1.8 million for each club per season. The previous deal had been worth £12 million.

Carling were forced to take their name off Celtic and Rangers shirts supplied to children in April last year because of legislation deeming it unsuitable.

The US company have been battling to compete against established Scottish brewers Tennent's for the last seven years.

Celtic have lined up a new deal with sportswear giants Nike, which will also run from 2010 and is expected to bank £29m over five years, to supply their kit.

However, like rivals Rangers, they will still need to find a shirt sponsor.

Magners and Coca-Cola are being rumoured as possible shirt sponsors for the Parkhead club should Carling call time.

Carling have denied reports that they are set to end their long-running joint shirt sponsorship deal with the Old Firm.

Couple of sponsor ideas for them

Rangers - Massive Swastika - or a BNP logo

Celtic - the Word \"OIRELAND\" in massive Gaelic lettering with a guy wearing a balaclava and holding an armalite underneath it.

Both would be immediate best sellers.

\"Guinness\" on the Celtic shirt (the away shirt has to be black with a white collar).
\"Tennent\'s\" on the Rangers shirt.

Huns - Orange Kit with Union Jack detailing, important historical names interwoven in the fabric ( Nick Grifffin, Pol Pot, Mussolini etc) , sponsored by King Billy dot com topped off by a massive picture of a Gay riding a white Horse.

Tims - Sackcloth grey and green hopes reflecting their brotherhood with the oppressed masses byrawaybigman - sponsored by \"PlasticPaddy.com\"

As dirty a shower of cnuts as the world has seen.

Totally agree, but I think the Swastika would look better on the censoreds shirt. But yes, the fans of both teams are a disturbing lot who deserve to censored off and leave the civilized world behind, as we have no use for their obscene racism and attitude.

And while they\'re at it, they can also intertwine Adolf Hitler\'s name into their kit as well.

How intelligent are you?

Yes I admit some Rangers fans are idiots and support the BNP and probably fascism but the majority are not :side:

Dear Rangers Till I die

Have you been to Hunbrox recently? It\'s like a badly dressed Last Night of the Proms combined with a Nuremburg rally - not to say that your Green bretheren on the other side of the city aren\'t as depicable with their phoney Oirishness.
