Celtic Announce Magners Shirt Sponsor Deal

We showed you a picture of a leaked Celtic 13/14 home football shirt yesterday and today Celtic announced that the new shirt sponsor will be Magners from the start of the 2013/14 season. Celtic Football Club signed a three-year shirt sponsorship with Magners, the premium international cider brand.

Magners has a strong track record of engaging fans via successful and innovative sponsorships across rugby, football, comedy and music and is currently working with Celtic to develop a range of initiatives to support its partnership with the club.

Celtic Chief Executive Peter Lawwell welcomed Magners’ commitment. He said: "On behalf of everyone at Celtic, I am delighted to welcome Magners as the club’s new shirt sponsor.

I though Celtic and Rangers always had the same sponsor. I can't imagine Rangers fans would be happy with the word "Irish" being anywhere near their shirts.

Just shows the mentality over there. A sigh of relief because the word 'Irish' isn't on your shirt. It's the 21st century you censoreding knuckle dragger. Try having a read at history before having a pop at what peoples personal views are. Uneducated hun bastard....

Hate sponsors on the hoops but it's inevetable. Should be a good deal in the long run

That would explain the scandal at the club in the 60s and 70s that was swept under the carpet by the club owners.

Umm...dont tar us all with the same brush here! Not all scottish people (including me) want independence, so simmer down and keep your comments to kit design and in this case shirt sponsorship!
On the flipside...suppose this is an improvement from the Tennants sponsorship from Celtic, Magners will look pretty awsome on the shirts! But other questions arises, does this mean The Rangers will have the same sponsorship too? Or is this the end of the whole joint old-firm shirt sponsorships?

This is the end. Thought it might just be a delayed announcement from Rangers but in the interview with our CEO they emphasised that it isn't a joint sponsorship.

Oh right! Well thank you for the information sir :) This should be interesting to see, counting that this is the first time since 1999 the old firm has had seperate sponsorships and all. So, odds on for Rangers to have Sports Direct as the their shirt sponsorship next season?

Big Jock Knew

He knew that 4 decades after his reign at Celtic:

they would top the league, be reigning champions, be in the best-16 top flight of europe and they are the only real club in Scotland letting alone Glasgow. Basically the same situation as in the 60s and large part of the 70s.

Yep, I guess big Jock really knew that he opted for the No.1 Club in Scotland with unbroken history. The first british club to raise the CL trophy (which was called different then of course), only scottish club to win this trophy. Best club in Scotland and in a couple of years the club with most championships in Scotland and UK.

Proud to call myself a Celt

Oh yes, they are and they were british of course.
Even after 2014 they will be, as Scotland is on the British Isle.

Northern Ireland is - btw - therefore not british. It is in Ireland. And after the "Great Britain" thing ceases to exist, they can not even call themselves brit for that reason.

If you stick to the usual THE SUN, DAILY MAIL black and white ideology(I know most Sevconians do, as their intellectual capacity is...let´s say...humble) then all people who are of an irish heritage or are proud of an irish heritage must be republicans letting alone IRA (official or provisional?) supporters. Also germans are fascs etc.

But if you open you eyes, start reading instead of watching telly and binge drink then you´ll see the world is so much more difficult and interesting.

BTW why are taigs scum? Is the pope or any italian, french, soutern american etc. etc. catholic more scum, than the super prods of East Belfast nowadays in their tracksuits pelting their own police with stones, or the deceased Rangers fans in 2008 in Manchester @ the UEAFA Cup final?

Enlighten me

Northern Ireland is not in Btitain but in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland which means citizens there can identify themselves as either British or Irish.

Showing your own intellectual capacity by guessing that Great Britain will soon be dissolved based on what. The majority of Northern Ireland want to remain in the union. The last poll carried out in Scotland showed a support of 30% for independance.

BTW the term "taig" means Irish catholic.

Always happy to educate.

the only real club in Scotland? learn your history pal, theres plenty of professional clubs in Scotland been around longer in fact you stole your famous green and white hoops from Hibs. Agreed they are the best team in Scotland at the moment but considering the finances they have compared to everyone else they should be bulldozing their way through everyone in the league. Of course you are that much superior you havent lost any games this season against the other "wee" SPL teams with next to no resources, oh thats right you have

2 the ill informed mischief makers, it was celtic who actively searched for a seperate sponsor from the rangers to the extent they tried 2. find a way out of their current agreement. small minded behaviour. tennents and magners have the same parent company Anyway, more importantly who cares what they do.

I am a Rangers fan but am completely embarrassed by the usual Old firm fans behavior in here yet again. Same old bigoted crap from both sides of the coin. I hope that the comments are locked and put away forever. The knuckle draggers are just desperate to keep both clubs down.

If you can not comment like a normal human being then please do not comment at all. A humiliation to the rest of the OF support who are normal people.

Saying that, the Magners deal is the same as it was. Magners are run with the same company as Tenents. Its just a rebrand.

Really unbelievable what you read on here from some fans of "the Rangers" still don´t know if I shall laugh or cry.

I mean tbh I am happy they are not throwing stones because some flag is lowered at a city hall somewhere in the north of ireland. Neiher do they beat up their wifes while typing their comments.

But some comments are a bit over the top, I assume. But I guess we´re just a big club and therefore are exposed to internet lowlifes and their comments.

After all, at the end of the day we are talking about:
