In addition a new Derby County merchandise store will also be opening in Derby City Centre in the Autumn.

"We are delighted to announce our new relationship with Kappa," said Derby County Vice President of Operations John Vicars.

"This is a tremendous opportunity for Derby County and Kappa to work together closely and we're excited about what the next five years holds.

"When we sat down with Kappa to discuss a potential deal we were extremely impressed with what they had to say and I am sure their products will be a big hit with our fans."

Simon Bamber, Kappa UK's CEO, commented: "Kappa has a long and rich heritage in football and we are delighted to be associated with Derby County, a Club with a great, great history. A Club who's ambitions match our own. We share their passion, desire and energy for football and we're extremely excited to be partnered with them."

The announcement brings to an end Derby's five-year association with adidas and Vicars added: "We've enjoyed five very good years with adidas, built some strong relationships and we appreciate their hard work and commitment during that time."

Details of Derby County's new-look replica kits for the 2012-13 season will be announced later this summer.

Ouch. Adidas to Kappa. Unlucky. Get used to having an Italian kit manufacturer plastering your kit with massive unnecessary logos.

Don't worry Umbro have made it all better. Just be aware that when you go to Nike you will die of toxic poisoning if you wear the shirt

Don't understand why every is saying this is awful for Derby. As a Derby fan, I am very happy to see a kit manufacturer who will make a unique kit for us, unlike Adidas and their samey templates.

It'll suit all those sheep shagging chavs just perfectly. Word on the street is that they're releasing a line of Derby Clownty popper pants as well.

TBH I'm disappointed for Derby, simply because they'll probably have the same kit as Fulham or similar!
Think they're doing a good thing in dropping adidas, but teaming up with Kappa is poor when you realise how little a difference their kits will be from Fulham

Kappa kits are beautiful, Roma have consistently had the nicest shirts around for years now. I like the shirts of Fulham, Toulouse, Sampdoria, Portsmouth + older shirts made for Werder, Tottenham, Auxerre and many others. If you don't like your shirts skin tight, buy a bigger size or lose some weight! So much better than the crap adidas kits we've had for years.

I don't think Fulham have benefited from Kappa, although Blackburn's, Portsmouth's and Spurs shirts were OK.

That said not one for lardy people

Excellent news; a lot of teams switched to adidas lately (prolly overcompensation from the Germans' side for the loss of Liverpool to Warrior), which flooded us with templates and spaghetti everywhere. Derby dumping them for Kappa, who do produce lovely kits (but those logo's....!).

However, the placement of the two women on Fulham's new shirt is better than before; having them below the armpits makes them a bit less visible. Let's hope this placement will carry over to Derby's shirts as well.

Still, looking forward to seeing some nice unique designs for County.

The logo has a man and a woman sitting back to back - not 'two women'.

Look again.

I think the adidas thing doesn't work so well for clubs with very strict templates. It might work better for clubs like Coventry or Palace that change a lot.

I am actually chuffed. I own and never wear 3 Adidas Derby shirts as they are itchy and boring. I still wear my 10 year old Porto shirt made by Kappa!

I prey it has a collar to be different from Fulham etc.

The away shirt will be more interesting than the home!
